I grew up climbing these formations and am happy to report that you can still enjoy climbing them. This trip, I enjoyed the beauty of the formations. Great place for a family picnic and hiking.

Seriously, these rocks are 1.4 BILLION years old! And they are all crazy shapes and formations, fun to photograph, but fantastic for climbing and scrambling. There were 3 guys hanging from a rock wall on our way in. Seriously fun. And, we saw a moose!

Yeah, the rock formations here are impressive and picturesque. And I hear they're great for climbing. But we just wanted to hike on a quiet trail for awhile. Found what we though was a good trail, but it's overall path was very confusing. We didn't...More

The trails were easy and peaceful. Busy but friendly. Restrooms are available. Trails connect funny but you always get back to the parking lot-it's just that you might have to walk through the lot to find your vehicle.

This is a neat, quaint town. Unless you are related somehow to the University, there is nothing there for you. Scarce jobs, mediocre shops, lots of open land. It is great for outdoors stuff, but nothing more.

Lots of interesting rock formations and vistas. Some of the trails (not roads) you will need four wheel drive. Worth the time to see especially if you do the Ames Monument.

Relatively accessible hiking place. Offers hikes for both experienced hikers and those that are just going for a short hike. Beware that the weather can change quickly in the area, particularly in spring and autumn. There are a few picnic areas with grills too -...More

The best spots do. Much of the campground has been cleared of trees due to pine beetle, so many of the campsites are treeless. Many of those are often available. The upper Campground allows RVs. The lower Campground is tents... More

It means " earthborn". I found this on another website for you. I think I read something like the indians thought that the indian spirits played here, as if they placed all the rocks like they are. Despite claims to the... More
