Spring is really the best time to visit Vedauwoo, but it's great anytime. The mild weather coupled with the amazing wildflowers and natural beauty of the area make it a must see.

About 20 minutes outside of Laramie and Cheyenne. Kind of in-between the two. Great for a day or overnight for camping. Most of the areas charge a day use fee, but if you search you can find some free areas and hike in to meet...More

Was very lucky to read about Vedauwoo.. Most unusual rock formations. Almost no signs pointing to area. Saw sign for Vedauwoo Road and took that exit. Wished we had more time to take some of the hikes in the park.

Another interesting place to stop and check out on the way to Laramie from Cheyenne. Read about how Vedauwoo got its name and stop along the way. Very interesting and fun to visit.

Would love to head back and explore this area. Hiking. Rock Climbing and Camping. Interesting rock formations comparable to Garden of the Gods if you ask me....even if you don't.

Vedauwoo is a gorgeous batholith of exfoliating Sherman granite just off I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie, WY. Turtle Rock trail circles the batholith in a delightful 3 miles, winding past beaver ponds and through ponderosa forests, with amazing views everywhere of huge granite boulders and...More

Does the campground get full in early summer? I see it's walk-in only (no reservations) and will be in the area early June, mid-week.

The best spots do. Much of the campground has been cleared of trees due to pine beetle, so many of the campsites are treeless. Many of those are often available. The upper Campground allows RVs. The lower Campground is tents... More
