I first darkened the doors of NCPL in September of 1980 and over the intervening years have spent thousands and thousands of hours therein. NCPL has grown and adjusted to demands of technology as well as keeping up-to-date books and maintaining absolutely the best staff in a world filled with excellent library staff. It gets a little cozy during peak business hours but I have rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to get help when I needed it. In addition, the dear interlibrary loan people (I'm talkin' about you, Lida) have found obscure research books for me and made suggestions for others I might find useful. The reference folks upstairs have found everything from legal cites to historical documents for me and not once have any of them acted anything but fascinated by the prospect of searching for something I couldn't find myself. As if that's not enough, there is a great children's section, regular programs for all ages, a teen nook, computers, a lovely entrance, and regular displays in the entrance windows by local organizations and citizens. Yay, NCPL! I'd give you six round green circles if I could.

It is nice to stop at a local library, to get a sense of the community's support for the local institution so vital to literacy and cultural exposure. This place did not disappoint!

It is so easy to check the internet, every time you have a question. It is so much more fun to use the library to research. You start out in one book and find yourself in so many others. Besides, the great smell of a library can't be beat by Google. As to needing a new library, I can't see why.

I love all kinds of books. They have a great computer room & reference area. Situated downtown. Have fantastic book sales twice a year.

Whenever I travel, I like to visit libraries. I’m always curious as to the layout, amenities, etc. The library is located in historic downtown Casper - just a block or so from the Casper Rail Trail. There is a sizable computer center as well as a craft-type room. There are plenty of books for all ages here. I saw several private reading/study/tutoring rooms - one was named for former First Lady, Barbara Bush. Staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Mormon missionaries consistently horde computer access in the Library. I can understand a one hour limit but jeez they are there dusk 'til dawn making it hard on those without a computer to use one.

I'm biased, because I have loved this library since I was little. Ever changing and growing as much as possible in the space there is, NCPL is always trying to improve, to go above and beyond. There are thousands of books, audio books, music CD's, and movies, as well as computer labs, learning spaces (a new Maker Space for creative projects is coming soon), an outdoor reading area, magazines, the Teen Zone, and a great Children's area. There are meeting spaces, and all kinds of activities going on all the time, just check their website for more details. They participate in the monthly Art Walk, the Nic Fest, and other community activities. The only challenge you might find is with parking. They have a small lot, there is street parking on three sides, and the public parking garage is about a block away.

They have been trying to move the library for years to a less centrally located spot, citizens have voted it down 3 times so hopefully they got the message. And who needs to spend $40 million building a library in this day and age? The library is a great resource for Casper. They let it go for a few years, lots of homeless people hanging around inside and outside but security has put a stop to that. Used to be a fog of smoke you had to walk through to get into the library, that is also stopped now. Finally got some new furniture and moving things around a bit so may need to ask where you favorite section is now located. They do lots of classes for the community, kids, seniors alike. Staff is super helpful, great kids section downstairs. The book fair twice a year is a must do if you have hours to wait in line. Only complaint is there isn't enough parking. If employees would park at Nicolayson or somewhere else there would be more room for patrons but it seems this is all a show to make the library seem too crowded for the current location.

The library is doing a good job of reaching people of all ages. They have programs for the very young to seniors. They are able and willing to provide services that you would normally have to pay the Geek Squad for. They have programs for tweens which are informative and helpful. Lisa, the director, and staff continue to add new programs to help the community to grow and have a place that meets their needs.

It was easy to park. The greenery in the lobby walking in is beautiful. Founds lots of books and would love to go back for more on the history of Wyoming.
