Unfortunately I got caught in a bad thunderstorm while in Door County. I had already decided to drive up to George Pinney county park to see the water. Figured I could hang out there until the storm passed. Couldn’t get a good pic since it was raining so hard. Still was a great spot to relax and watch the water. Must be amazing when it's not raining lol.

Plenty of room to social distance while fishing at water's edge. Some fencing. Still a little chilly! Docks were in as of 4/23/2020. Nice boat ramp. Calm, sheltered launch harbor.
Saw 12 boat trailers in lot yesterday 4/23/20.
Multiple duck, sea gull, and geese sightings to view!

Came here the afternoon of Memorial Day and there were very few people. Might have been in part because of an impending storm. The storm came and went in about a half hour. One piece of advice: if the winds are strong, I would not park my car near the lake's edge. The waves were quite strong, creating waves crashing over the pier (more or less). You don't want them to hit your car, especially the motor. The park itself is nice, with livable (not great) bathrooms and well groomed lawn. There is a nice gazebo type building, creating a good picnic area if you get there early enough. There is some pretty good smallmouth fishing right off the ledge here. There are several nice boat ramps to drop your boat off. Great spot for sunsets. I think the cliffs on the other side of the road are absolutely AWESOME!!! It once was a quarry. It is private property. It is surely worth a stop to picnic, fish, drop your boat in the water, enjoy that gorgeous sunset or see cool cliffs!!!!!

Towards the end of our trip to Door County we decided to find a good place to watch the sun set over Green Bay and this place didn't disappoint! After taking pictures we walked across the street and grabbed an easy geocache.

This is another hidden gem of a park in Door County. It is a very pretty site located directly on the water facing Green Bay. Great place to watch the bay, shipping, and magnificent western sunsets in the summer months.
The park is located on Bay Shore Drive about 5.5 miles from downtown Sturgeon Bay. It also has picnic benches, a pavilion, really nice boat slips, and boat launching ramps. Very nice for local boaters.
The park is actually located on the site of the old Leather and Smith quarry, established in 1892. Be sure to take the time to read the Leathem and Smith Quarry historical marker.
Also a very interesting relic of an old ships propeller that I wish I knew more about. If there was a plaque there describing the propeller and when it came from, I missed it.

I am a local resident and live near this park. We own a boat + put in the water here. The protected harbor is great! Having 4 docks-there usually isn't much of a wait. There is plenty of close parking. Not many trees, but fishing is plentiful off the side of the park. The walkable jetty is the perfect for a walk + snapping pics of the usually spectacular Door County Sunset! The picnic tables are shaded + there are nice restrooms. I am thankful to live in such a beautiful place. George Penney was a special person.

We have been there several times now, mainly to walk the docks and warf, and catch a sunset out over Green Bay. It looks like a busy place for mainly trailable fishing boats to provide easy access to Green Bay from the northern mouth of Sturgeon Bay. They do not allow swimming there, so don't go there unless its to walk, boat or fish.

Great place for pictures, and appears to be a super place for ice fishing based on the number of ice shanties. We have been here 3 times however and we’re lucky if we stay 15 minutes. Take the pictures and go. In the summer you can find a better place to picnic. No playground equipment. If you like to boat, fish, go out on the ice you should check it out.

We took a drive after dinner & came upon this great spot. Perfect quiet location to watch the sunset. It has a boat launch and a boat dock. Plenty of parking and has rest rooms too.

This park isn't far from where we are staying and was our first stop on a car tour (right alongside the road) of the upper peninsula. It was a windy day when we stopped on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of parking and not many people when we were there. There is a picnic pavilion that was vacant. Nice views of the bay and cliffs along the road. The wind had the water hitting and splashing on the shoreline. Worth stopping for the views and photo ops.
