Nice trail, not a lot of cover from wind and sun. Overall we enjoyed the trail. The trail requires a state pass (either an annual pass or daily pass), but there were very few benches or washrooms along the way

Awesome , the ride from La Crosse to West Salem was very exciting had lunch at West View Inn then off to Sparta . I arrived sooner than thought and joined a pleasant surprise supper with a German couple and Austrian family .
This trail has brought a smile around the world . I've gotten the list of all the countries that have taken it for the last 5 yrs. 74 different countries are represented and the true reason for the title of the trail and Sparta .
Enjoy the ride of the world

The path was flat, easy and beautiful. Our two highlights were our two stops: The Trempealeau Hotel (on a Sunday afternoon) had a band in the outdoor pavilion - what a setting, with the Mississippi in the background, river barges and an occasional freight train behind the quaint band shell - and on our return, a stop at a bar called "The Petticoat Junction" where we enjoyed speaking with locals. Ran a marathon on part of those trails. Very well kept, beautiful, loved the bridges. Would definitely go for walk, ride your bike or run there. Lots of benches to sit, relax, and take in the scenery.

Very well kept trail. Mostly flat with very little incline. Trail travels through prarie lands and a few small towns. Beautiful scenery and lots of rest stops.

Beautiful trail, make sure to bring a flashlight for the railroad tunnel that is 3/4 mile long. You will have to walk your bike. You will bike on pea gravel on groomed trails, room for 2 bikers to bike side by side.

Five trails are connected here (Elroy-Sparta, Great River, Omaha, 400, Lacrosse River and Three Rivers Trail). Elroy-Sparta is the star of the bunch. The LaCrosse River Trail makes a good out-and-back from either LaCrosse or Sparta, because there are services at each end (including bike shops).

This is a special bike trail. Nice and flat, and interspersed with tunnels. The Rail to Trail movement really was epitomized here. Special feeling as you go through the tunnels. Enjoy the ride and enjoy Sparta.

Did the Sparta-Elroy trail and was so impressed with the trail. The most amazing tunnel is number 3.
