I enjoy seeing history come to life PLUS they've got something going on practically year 'round, including a Santa Train in the winter and other such events. Great for groups & families. One of the larger museums around--the only other museum that could rival the size of the mid-continent railway museum is the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois (although... More

The Mid-Continent Railway has made seeing old railroad engines and cars while you are having a pleasurable ride. They have events and special meal rides. I love it because there are seven ride events (WWI Encampment, Stars & Stripes, Wooden Car Tour, Autumn Color Weekend, Pumpkin Special, Santa Express and the Snow Train) and nine on-board dining experiences (Elegant Dinner... We took this train ride for the fall colors. Sadly we waited a week too long but that is how the weather goes. The train was clean and the train conductor and "trainman" were attentive and helpful. The problem is the ride is very short. There is very little scenery. The stop at the end was a leg stretch stop... More

The elegant dinner train is 2.5 - 3 hours long. The track is only 3 1/2 miles long so you go and come back to the depot and then go and come back on the same track again. It started at 5:30 so for 75% of the ride we couldn't see anything outside which was a waste because the burgundy... More

We took our 10 and 12 year old kids on the fall colors train ride. Unfortunately the trees hadn't really turned yet, so we didn't see many colors, but it was still a fun experience with some beautiful countryside views! We enjoyed walking thru the train museum afterwards and getting to see everything up close. Inexpensive and fun. I booked... More

Took a fall colors train ride in a first class restored car. Very nice ride with attentive volunteers. Plenty of history and details about the train line, cars and local area. Great get away and very relaxing.

This was our first time here and my husband really enjoyed himself. The trains were beautifully restored and it was interesting to see all the different cars. The ride was slow and relaxing. We were able to use the Super Splash Pass which just added to the value of this attraction. We would visit this again!

The Mid-continent Railway Museum is located at a railroad station in a tiny town called North Freedom in Wisconsin(not far the town of Baraboo and Wisconsin Dell. It is a small outdoor well organized museum showing different types of railroad cars from different rail lines. For a small fee, there is a tour of the rail yard and inside each... More

a short train ride through southern, rural Wisconsin. I stopped by the museum for the second time during my early fall trip to Wisconsin. (The last time was about 30-years ago.) The museum has a nice collection of various steam engines, cabooses, and other types of rail cars. There are also buildings to visit that demonstrate the types of support... More

Went with daughter and grandsons. The 3 of them were much more in to railroading than I am but I still enjoyed the leisurely ride. The conductor was helpful in answering questions and it was a peaceful afternoon.
