Visited during Doors Open Milwaukee w/my husband and brothers. We all found it to be very interesting. Many rooms w/different venues of info from an old pharmacy to a bar room w/original wanted posters of notorious criminals including Bonnie & Clyde, Al Capone, Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and others. Many unique things that you wouldn't see at the Milwaukee museum... More

Thank you for visiting us during Milwaukee Doors Open weekend! It is an excellent way for us to advertise the museum to locals that might not know of us yet. The Milwaukee Public Museum's "Streets of Old Milwaukee" covers Milwaukee's pioneer years to World War One and we continue from there until the late 1940s. We are always changing our... More

Enthusiastically guided if you like seeing all the stuff Milwaukee'ans had and did over the past 150 years then this is the place to find it. Sampled from a large private collection, with a couple of specialist additions highlights included the Speak Easy and small cinemas showing early Mickey Mouse etc. A Must Do in Milwaukee.

Thank you for stopping in during your visit to Milwaukee. Our guides enjoy showing off and talking about the large, varied collection on display. As you mentioned, speakeasies and cinemas were very popular in Milwaukee and could be found everywhere. Many of the buildings still stand. More

While surfing the internet for things to see in Milwaukee we came across information on this museum. It is well worth a visit. The museum is inside an old house and each room is decorated to look like a particular shop or business from the early 1900s. There is an ice cream parlor, doctors office, general store, and many other... More

I am glad you found us on the internet. That is high praise comparing us to MPM's "Streets of Old Milwaukee." Another difference is they end the exhibits there at WWI and that is where we begin allow us to cover interesting times like Prohibition, Roaring 20s, Great Depression and more! We change a good percentage of the exhibits throughout... More

I was surprised at how quaint and interesting this little museum was! Definitely a place I would go to again. It doesn't take too long to go through, so it's perfect for kids who might not have a long attention span ;)

Thank you for giving us an opportunity and I am glad you liked your visit! In just an hour, give or take fifteen minutes, you can walk through the 18 current exhibits. We also have a few interactive features that children of all ages enjoy. More

Great little museum. Came on a Sunday afternoon and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. Steve showed us around and shared a lot of detail about the exhibits and history. Really enjoyable.

Glad you enjoyed your visit and guided tour. Sundays are frequently family activity days in the Midwest and can be the slowest or busiest days at the building if many people have the same idea. More

Great little off-the-beaten path museum dedicated to the 1910's to 1940's. Each room is made up to look like a different business and filled with things from that era (e.g. general store, soda fountain, speakeasy, barbershop, railroad station). If you like the Streets of Milwaukee exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum you'll love this place as well. Worth the $5... More

I am glad you found us just to the north of Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee's main downtown street. Thank you for the high compliment of comparing us to the Streets of Old Milwaukee at MPM. We use our small size to an advantage and change exhibits often. Thank you for writing a review! More

Found this museum on an "Open Doors" day in Milwaukee (so, it and lots of other places were free), and it was interesting for the four of us "senior citizens." Lots of fun stuff and facts about "old times" of first half of 20th century. It is somewhat narrow and cluttered, so have to maneuver a bit, but overall a... More

I am glad you visited us during the Doors Open weekend in September. Thank you for writing a review! The first half of the 20th century was the start of many of modern America's products and innovations we know and love. We are rarely as packed as the 1600+ visitors we received that free weekend so please don't let that... More

I was entirely facinated at at this incredible place! The museum is in a very old two-story house. Each room is filled with momentos and objects from the past- I mean jam-packed in such an orderly fashion- you'd think you stepped back into history! Everywhere you look from floor to ceiling is filled with items- genuine items from the past-... More

Can you believe we only display 5% or less of the collection at a time? Our founder was one of the first "pickers" that television has now made famous. It must have been a great experience for your grand-daughter to step back in time to more familiar items her grandparents remembered and could explain to her. I am so pleased... More

A small, interesting museum. My favorite part was the documentaries in the theatre upstairs. Many local items, nicely displayed, only takes about an hour to get around.

A lot of history is packed into each interesting exhibit. The exhibits also can change between visits. Might even find an item to take home with you.
