This Flemish Renaissance Revival style mansion, built in mere 2 years in the late19th c, for Captain Frederick Pabst, founder of Pabst Brewing Co. and his family has been beautifully maintained and restored. The family lived there from 1892-1908. It was then sold to the Archdioceses of Milwaukee who continued to own it for the next 67 years. It was... More

Thank you very much for your nice comment. Matthis Brothers did all the woodwork AND the furniture on the first floor, along with all the beautiful cabinets throughout the house. They are even buried in a mausoleum among side of the other Beer Barons at Forest Home Cemetery.....guess they deserve to be there! More

The Pabst Mansion is one of the most grand & magnificent historic properties that my wife and I have toured in the U.S.. We arrived just as one of the regularly scheduled hourly tours was starting (filled to capacity); but the Saturday crowds had the staff scheduling more frequent tours, so we had just enough time to browse the gift... We really appreciate your great review and want to make sure that Frank gets to see this, too. Each of the volunteer docents has his/her own take on the Mansion and Frank has an entertaining story to tell. It is great to hear all the nice comments that are posted and we learn something from each review. More

My husband and I were passing through Milwaukee for an overnight getaway. We found the Pabst Mansion was close by (and my husband loves PBR) so we stopped in for a tour. It was very inexpensive for the tour, and it lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. We learned a lot about the history of the family and the... More

We've toured a lot of homes like these, but this one is at the top of the list. Our tour guide was great, lots of interesting history about the Pabst family and the mansion...WOW! The restoration has such attention to detail it is impossible to describe it. If you're into this type of thing you HAVE to go here. Plan... More

Thank you for your great review! We probably need to have docents better inform guests about the seating on each floor as well as our elevator (this has come up in reviews in the past), so we appreciate your question about it. Thanks again for your kind words. More

To start with, I've been to many tours of various historical landmarks and Barb Nichols, our tour guide was nothing short of Professional, Knowledgable, Passionate, and Organized on the history of this site. She sets the bar high for a docent! I learned a new word. Barb kept the group in line with informing us ahead of time of what... More

I am always so thrilled to see something from the past preserved. They have worked very hard to keep this home up and are constantly working on it. It was impressive to the woodwork and craftsmanship that was put into the house. Our tour guild Caroline was awesome.

Thank you for your kind words about the house and your docent. It is so nice to be able to share these nice comments with our docents, who volunteer their time and really have a passion for this great house! I think Captn. Pabst would be very happy with how we have taken care of his home! Thanks again! More

If you are into old dark houses, this is for you. Me, not so much, wasn't worth the money to walk through the door.
