I was trying to simply find something inexpensive and "different" to with my best friend. So I found the Groupon for Milton House. I have to say the tour was amazing!!! To be able to hear such an interesting story from start to finish was such a great experience. Even if you don't have a huge interest in history, you... More

Visited and took the tour. We were the only ones there for a tour, so we had a private tour. We had a great tour guide that took us through the tour of the site. Our quide was great source of information on the history of the properties' history and history of the region. It was emotionally moving to walk... More

We had never heard of this before, since we don't live in the area. But, when a Groupon became available, we decided to go, and are glad we did. The tour was very informative about the history of the house and the family who originally built it, and who was then very instrumental in the town. This house is certified... More

Arrived about the time they were opening for the day. The lady at the desk donned gloves and asked us not to touch anything..only she could...and no pictures. She talked to us and led us around the old hotel and underground station for the escaping slaves for an hour. I would have followed and listened to her for another hour.... More

This is an historic building like many others I have toured. Plenty of old artifacts and a very knowledgeable guide added to our positive experience. The huge separating factor with this tour is that it is documented to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad. An underground tunnel connects the main inn with an adjacent cabin, and visitors are... More

This was built along the train tracks, built in 1837. It was and still is the only surviving house constructed of concrete from that era. The octagon shape of the house is still standing! Great history to be told here. this house also had another purpose, for harboring runaway slaves seeking freedom! Sadly the bounty was high, some rewards reaching... More

A great stop to get some good history of the Underground Railroad and the area. The inn has been maintained as authentically as possible, with little changing over the years in the main octagon and upper rooms. Work has been done and the updates are nice and will insure the building’s longevity. You can't walk through the tunnel in its... More

I never knew that the underground railroad went as far west as Wisconsin, my home state. I never knew that there were Seventh Day Baptists, and that they were involved in the anti-slavery movement. I never knew much about the early days of Wisconsin history. But now I do! Our group of six learned a great deal about a part... More

We visited Milton House a couple months ago and had a good time learning the history behind the house itself and the underground railroad. Since it was the slow time of year for visitors in March they were nice enough to schedule a tour just for us. We would highly recommend for kids as an affordable educational experience or anyone... A real gem with incredible historical significance. The only documented Wisconsin stop on the Underground Railroad, it features a tunnel between the inn and the pioneer cabin where escaped slaves hid between the two buildings. The inn is the oldest grout building in America, and its original owners founded the city of Milton and Milton College.
