Guided tours are available and it is open only during the Memorial Day-Labor Day season, so it is best to call ahead and make reservations for a guided... More

The turkish nook was great fun to see along with ornate rugs and decor from the Middle East. I wished the docent would have asked how long we had for a tour. The parking needs to be clearly marked. Much of the interior restoration work has involved cleaning what's there rather than tearing out and replacing interior feature with period replicas. There are also a few rooms that have not yet been restored and these give you a real appreciation... More

Historic home from a 1800's lumber Barron. Allow 1.5 - 2.0 hours for the tour. Lots of original furnishings. Guide also explains, in great detail, the restoration

Because we only had 5 on our tour (one other couple we didn't know, my husband, 13 year old son, and me), we were able to ask a lot of questions and take a lot of time seeing things and learning about the Hixon family. This was the highlight... More

We lucky enough to have a tour only 5 days after Hixon house was opened for tours after an extensive renovation of the home. The inside was restored with meticulous care. A great toour to go on.
