I would rename this page into Hixon Forest. The forest is a sprawling entity, with multiple trails and many parking lots, and divided into subsections. Upper Hixon Forest is just one such subsection. This gem was gifted to the city of La Crosse by Ellen Hixon ages ago. Her monument and the story are commemorated at the Grandad Bluff - separate La Crosse Park bordering Hixon Forest.

We didn't get to see as much as we hoped as we tried biking this...said hiking or biking trails...but the biking trails soon turned into mountain goat like paths - more for mountain biking. Gorgeous scenery though! Port-a-potties in parking lot.

These trails will satisfy every level of hiker. Steep, flat, go up, go across, you choose. Great views of downtown La Crosse.

This park has trails for hiking and biking. Multiple trails of different length and difficulties. Great place to take the kids to run or a morning hike . Not farfrom town.

We drove through Hixon Forest en route to Grandad Bluff. It was incredible with all the rolling hills, flying wildlife (we saw numerous eagles), and majestic snow filled trees. There are areas where you can pull over and take photos too!
