We rode the entire 32 mile trail over two days. We consider Port Washington the midpoint. On Day 1, we went north to Ostburg. This section of the trail is mostly rural with few roads to cross with little traffic. You do go through the communities of Cedar Grove and Belgium where you can find food, water, and restrooms. The Ostburg trail head has a community building with restrooms and water. Restaurants are nearby. This is the northern end of the off road trail but the trail does continue on road. On Day 2, we headed south. This section is both rural and urban taking you through the communities of Grafton, Cedarburg, Thiensville, and Mequon. Food, water, and restrooms are available at all these places. You do have some on road biking in Grafton. At the southern terminus in Mequon, the Interurban connects with the off road Brown Deer Recreational Trail. After a few miles you connect with an off road section of Milwaukee's Oak Leaf Trail System which takes you to the Milwaukee lakefront.

We rode from Port Washington to Oostburg. This is the northern section of the trail and we prefer it because it has few roads to cross and they are lightly traveled; it is less crowded than the southern section; and it is quiet due to the rural setting. All these factors make the 17.5 mile distance an almost continuous ride. Food and restrooms are available in Port Washington, Belgium, Cedar Grove, and Oostburg. The 100% paved trail is mostly smooth. Elevation is minimal. Once the trees have all their leaves, they provide a decent amount of shade.

Love the Interurban Trail. I usually catch it on Mequon Road and ride it up to Cedarburg or Port Washington. There's lots of cool places to eat, drink and shop at both destinations.

A very smooth trail for any time bike. Wasn't too fond of all the stops in Cedarburg and Grafton. One out of Grafton, though, the stops are few and far between. A nice trail for my wife to get used to her new bike.

My wife and I rented bikes in Port Washington and rode about 6 miles north and then back on this trail. Going that direction doesn't have a lot of good views but in the middle of corn fields. Still a nice experience. The trail is very long, both north and south.

Great ride with some elevation change. Got in 30 miles. Stop in Cedarburg for some suds & grub. Various places to park. Trail is paved. Some on street riding to get back on the trail.

Great way to enjoy a bike ride in a safe and beautiful environment. I have used the trail from Mequon to Port Washington. You can stop halfway in Cedarburg and go all the way to Lake Michigan. You get to see beautiful landscapes and wildlife (lots of birds). Get out there. Life is short, enjoy the ride!

I use portions of this trail 2 - 4 times per week. Winter runners, the trail is kept cleared throughout the winter, making it an ideal running route. Summer bikers, this trail has a little for everyone. I use it as part of my once/week commute from Cedarburg to Milwaukee. For those not interested or not able to ride long distances, there are multiple stops in Thiensville, Cedarburg, Grafton and Port Washington. For those interested in longer rides without cross traffic or stops, the stretch north of Port Washington to he Sheboygan County line (and beyond ... to Oostburg) is smooth sailing. Surface is well maintained.

The Interurban Trail extends for miles in either direction of my home both north and south. This is a main thoroughfare for many bikers, walkers, dog owners, joggers etc. I'm lucky enough to live along the path and take advantage of walking my dog on a daily basis in either direction. Throughout Ozaukee County the path is safe and well traveled. There are no lights after dark, but that does not prevent people from still using it at night. Great way to get around and get out and enjoy nature.

I was just visiting and friends took us on the path south of Cedarburg. The asphalt is pretty well maintained and nice views along the way. A couple of the street crossing require a bit of patience but the drivers seem pretty friendly and several stopped for us. What a nice way to get down to Milwaukee on the bike. Very green and lush in summer and lots of shade in most spots. If they added a few bridges over the busiest streets I would give it 5 stars (or add soon demand stop lights)

We have a special needs dog, in a cart. Would she be able to navigate this trail? Is it paved for the most part? She has done some pretty rugged trails but would like to know what we would be in for. Thanks!

All paved. Can't state, as did jd a, if the dog will love this trail. I don't have the mind of a "special needs" dog. Smooth trail for the most part. Enjoy!
