We did the 5 day tour with our guide Gabri, and two other people. It was a fantastic experience and we all became friends through the intensity and camaraderie of this trip. The cold, the magical landscape, the challenges of sledding, the cosy huts at night and above all, the awesome dogs made the whole trip really memorable. The physical challenge can't be underestimated and you need to be prepared for some fairly rustic living arrangements but these elements were all part of magic. Gabri was incredibly hardworking and attentive to our needs, as well as being an all-round lovely guy. We learned new skills, coped with lots of challenges, saw amazing sites, enjoyed great food, bonded with the marvellous dogs and had a lovely time with our new friends. I can't praise this tour enough. Thanks to Angela, Petter, Gabri, our new friends Mark and Christian and the whole team. We thoroughly recommend it!

We were on tour in February 2022. Monday to Friday we were on site. A wonderful time, with friendly and warm people, happy dogs, great food, beautiful landscapes and many new impressions lies behind us. To escape the stressful everyday-life, this time is just the right thing. It grounds you and shows you again the really important things - really a very moving trip. Thanks to all who made our time so unforgettable! We will be back! Warmest greetings from Germany :-)

This experience gave me the opportunity to learn many new things in a beautiful setting while in the company of great people. The guide, Gabri, was very capable and patient. I loved being with the dogs, who were incredibly athletic, well trained and still available for cuddles! I would describe the level as medium. I probably didn’t have to sprint up so many hills, but it was fun. Highly recommended.

It was an unforgettable experience!
We went on a 3-Day Tour which was exciting but still family friendly.

Our guide Luka was a great companion for the tour. He was very friendly and knowledgable and you could really feel his passion for the dogs.
His cooking was also great - the moosemeat sauce was delicious.

But probably my favourite part of the trip were the dogs. They were extremely kind and patient. And in addition to being amazing at pulling the sleds they also loved being pet and were absolutely adorable.
You could really feel the care and passion being put into training the dogs and I miss them (especially Godzilla) already.

What an amazing adventure and tour, could not have wished for anything else. Thank you Petter & family for everything. We got there and had a small tour around the grounds greeting all the dogs, then it was time to harness the sled and we went of for a full day in the beautiful wilderness of Northern Sweden. After a couple of hours, stopped to have a homemade typical artic food over the open flame and then coffee. Mushing in the dark was so fun. Me and my wife are coming back and we recommend everyone who has the opportunity to do this, do it with Petter and his crew. Professional and just top notch on every point. They even provided a gluten free dessert to my wife with only two days of notice. Now that's world class service :) and it was breathtaking to only be the two of us with Petter and that made it so personal and non-touristy, if you get what I mean :) thank you once again : D you really made our day!!! Sincerely Alex & Katta

This was the best adventure holiday we could ever have wished for. If you read nothing else but you're thinking of booking a holiday with these guys, just book it - you will not regret it. We did the 6 day tour which was 4 days of sledding. The experience was way more, raw, physically challenging and totally stunning than we could have imagined.

The groups are a maximum of 4 people plus your guide which is great as you really feel like part of a team and not just a tourist following the guide ahead. You get involved with absolutely everything from rigging up you own dogs, chopping and packing food for the dogs, packing your sled and digging your own snow BBQ. If you're someone who likes to get involved, this is the trip for you.

we had an excellent guide called Matt who was relaxed and friendly and a fountain of knowledge! Matt's dedication to taking care of the dogs was really incredible, he also races dogs so it's great to hear stories of their adventures!

A typical day is a bit like this. Wake up, make breakfast whilst some people go and feed the dogs (usually Matt in the morning). Make sandwiches for lunch and pack up your stuff. Fill the sleds and take the coats off your dogs, put booties on dogs that need them and set off sledding for the day. You all have your own sled and your own dogs. You go sledding for about 2.5 hours. On the first day it was really easy going on flat land, the second day there was a fair bit of pushing with lots of hills. At lunch time you stop and anchor your dogs, then you chop meat and "snack" the dogs aka feed them (these dogs eat a lot!), take the booties off your dogs and dig a hole in the snow to start a fire. Toast your sandwiches on the fire, grab a drink and it's back at it. Load the sleds and take off again for another 2.5 hours before arriving at a new cabin for the day. On arrival you instantly prep food for the dogs by chopping meat and boiling water, grabbing hay to put down to bed the dogs in for the night and popping on their nighttime jackets. Then you take your stuff from the sled inside, go to a river and grab some water which you then boil up to use for dinner. One night we ate "magic moose meat" which was cooked on a BBQ fire, it was amazing! You chop wood with an axe and stoke a fire and then usually pass out not long after with some rather sore muscles! Hop in your sleeping bag and start again the next day.

After the sledding trip every muscle in my body hurt, and it was amazing! To spend every day exploring the stunning snowy scenery of the area, being around dogs and trekking through incredible powder is the stuff dreams are made of. We also turned off our cell phones so we had no reception, 4 days of peace. When we came back to the guest cabin on day 5 and back into contact with the real world, people asked, "how was it?" Our first thought was, there is no way to really describe this.

The other great thing is that Petter runs a racing kennel, that is the primary reason for having the dogs. We as guests help keep the dogs fit and I assume our holiday fee helps pay for the programme. This means it is in their interest to take the best possible care of their dogs, and they really do. Don't book on a dog tour that just does tours, go for a racing kennel, it's much more rewarding.

In summary: this is a holiday of a lifetime and the best adventure you could ask for in the snow. If you don't mind being a bit grubby for a few days, love dogs, snow, fresh air and an escape from your daily comms, this is the holiday for you. Book it, enjoy and sled till your muscles hurt.

Thank you Matt and the Petter Karlsson team and best of luck in your next race!

P.S. my favourite dog was Cobalt!

TLDR: Best adventure trip we've ever done. Don't hesitate, just book it. You won't regret it.

We did the 6-day tour - 4 days of actual sledding - and are still kind of lost for words to describe it. Raw, pure, and unpolished adventure travel. An absolute must-do if you like the type of holiday where you turn off your phone, don't need to bring a wallet, and go as far away from crowded tourism as possible.

Let's start with the dogs: they are absolutely amazing. They all have their own personalities, but each one has a great nature and they clearly love the running. They are also incredibly well cared for by Petter and his team, and during the tour you will also spend about as much time taking care of the dogs as they spend pulling the sled. It makes sense to do a tour like this with a racing kennel (not a pure tourism kennel), as it is in Petter's team's best interest to have the dogs in the best possible health and shape for the races they do. You will form a strong bond with your dogs in just a few days!

Matt was our guide for the tour and we couldn't have wished for a better guide. Friendly, knowledgeable, chilled out, patient, hard working, takes great care of the dogs, and clearly loves his job. We really enjoyed his way of teaching us: no overload of information at the start, just enough to get going and then learn as you go.

A typical day might be: Wake up, get water from the creek, make fire, cook breakfast, wash up, pack bags, clean the cabin, load the sleds, harness the dogs, put booties on the dogs, sled for a few hours, park up, feed the dogs, dig a hole in the snow, make a fire, grill sandwiches, pack up, sled for a few hours, park up at the cabin for the night, take harnesses off the dogs, put coats on the dogs, put straw down for the dogs, feed the dogs, move stuff to the cabin, make fire, cook dinner, wash up, feed the dogs again, have a hot chocolate, go to sleep. We're very happy we did 4 days of sledding, as you really get into the groove after the first 2 days.

Clothing wise, the packing list provided upfront is very accurate. The only thing I would bring extra next time is a big thermos for drinking water, as we got pretty thirsty throughout the day. The gear (boots, winter suit, mittens, working gloves, sleeping bag) they provide you with is also excellent. If you're gonna bring photo/video equipment, make sure you bring enough batteries or portable chargers as there is no electricity in the cabins and battery life is reduced in the cold temperatures.

This trip was more intense than we thought it would be, but in the best possible sense. You don't just stand on the sled for a few hours a day and put your feet up in the evening, it's hard work before, during, and after the sledding. But this all makes it a true mushing experience. A huge thank you to Matt, the dogs, Petter and Angela, and the rest of the team over in Slussfors. We will definitely come back for another tour in the future!

If you would like to do Dog Sledding in Sweden, then you must try with Team Petter Karlsson Sleddogs, they are unquestionably the best anywhere in Europe.

Angela’s hosting and superhuman organisational skills are phenomenal. And so is the never ending series of amazing things she has baked or cooked that will keep appearing throughout your trip.

Petter is the most humble and yet amongst the most inspirational of people you will ever meet, in any walk of life. But Sleddogs are his passion, his obsession and his love. You will see this shine out in everything you see and experience when you take a tour with any of his superb guides, travelling through stunning wintery landscapes with a team of truly adorable dogs with which you will fall hopelessly in love.

I would challenge anyone not to have the experience of a lifetime taking a trip with Team Petter Karlsson Sleddogs.
