Free admission and a truly fascinating monument (the mound built c.200 BC) it is an unforgettable experience to climb the winding steps to the top of this ancient burial mound. At this time some of the inside displays were closed for repair/renovation, but the highlight...More

If you're in the area this is a nice little place to stop by. The museum has nice history of the mound and other history of other things made in West Virginia such as the history of a marble company and beautiful blown glass. Only...More

We took our grandsons to the fossil event, since one of them was studying fossils in science. It was an interesting time and the boys enjoyed the activities.

Mound itself very impressive - stone walkway to the top provided appropriate respect but also a great view of area, which explained use to mound as cannon battery during Civil War. Museum had some extraneous exhibits (like animal skulls and dinosaur species) that didn't relate...More

Indeed, self guided with no pressure. Don't forget to see the gift shop, great marble eggs with a stand to take home! Quiet town, and do take the walk up the mound to take in the view, priceless!
