We came in September 2015, the weather was fantastic and the morning breeze was refreshing! We came for a bird walk which was very informative and enjoyable. Later in the morning we attended an event that showcased local birds of prey that had been rescued. It. Was. Great. As an avid birder, I really enjoyed the live show and learning... More

My sister and I went to the Botanical Gardens in Morgantown. These gardens are in their infancy but the walk in the virgin forest was well worth the trip. The mature trees set the stage as you enter the gardens. The visitors center is almost complete and looks like it will be really nice. There is a 20 foot eagle... More

They have various events year round that are low or no cost. Beautiful gardens, interesting Red Tailed Hawk structured art piece by a local artist that blends in beautifully with the landscape, and summer camps for kids- This is a great family destination near Morgantown and Cheat Lake.

I stopped by the Botanic Garden for a walk with my 10 month old. During my visit there was a lot of construction going on due to the addition of what appears to be a new visitor center. Because of the construction the lower parking lot was closed, leaving us to park in the upper lot. There is a short... More

I visited here last weekend to go on a short hike. There are a fair amount of trails that are well maintained and it appears that they are making more improvements (like building a visitors center). It is so peaceful here and I can't wait until it gets even warmer so I can come here more often. All in all,... More

This is a wonderful place to wander and explore. It's private when you get down into the gardens which makes the experience there very peaceful and relaxing.

This garden is great for a relaxing walk to take in nature. Best done in the warmer months. There is construction going on to make 2016 even a better experience.

The West Virginia Botanic Garden is a hidden gem tucked unassumingly off of Tyrone Road in the Cheat Lake end of town. There are several trail options taking you on short hikes through the area. My son, a birder, loves to come here early in the mornings to see lots of birds. We've attended a few of the guided walk... More

Go here -- especially if you want a Morgantown treat. Stunning flowers, trees and tricks -- like the giant surprise bird. Easy walking, even for this 70 year-old lady with bad knees. A fine way to stroll with someone and have a private chat.

If you are a lover of flowers and plants then you need to be here late spring and all of the summer, a photographer dream and so well laid out to walk, explore or just sit awhile.
