More like a log cabin

We visited the fort because 5 great grandfathers back was an Ashby. When you get there it's a bit of a letdown. Not really a fort, more like a large log cabin.

Historic area that is not really visited. Staff was very nice, and I learned some about the area that I was in.

Fort Ashby was constructed by orders of George Washington during the French and Indian War. The old building, owned by the DAR, contains artifacts and historical items going back to colonial day. There are limited hours. Contact website for admission. Donations are accepted for admission.
