Lacking anywhere else to post this, the Riverfront attraction is part of an expansive 4.5 mile riverwalk that extends from Patrick Street to 35th street. Along this route are at least a dozen historical markers, the State Capitol building, downtown, the Eastern historic district, a Magic Island park with kids-aged water features, etc. There are two paths for the riverwalk; a lower narrow paved path along the river and a higher/street level much wider paved path along the street. The western ~1.5 miles of trail (from Pennsylvania Ave to 35th street) are marked for cyclists and runners. There is free parking available in the central area of the riverwalk, adjacent to Magic Island under the I64 overpass.

An excellent outdoor venue that is in use throughout the summer months. Also close to multiple restaurants. Boaters have access to an extended dock.

Local restaurants deliver to them amphitheater on a regular basis.

Thee are many activities at Haddad Riverfront Park during the summer months. Starting with the "Live on the Levee" events. Beginning in May, there is a free concert every Friday evening. The concert series is scheduled to begin every Friday at 6:30 and end by 9:30. On most nights, opening acts will play a one-hour set, and the featured artists will perform two 45-minute sets. There are a few food vendors and you can purchase beer and wine.

There are other events throughout the summer; The Charley West Blues Festival - May , Fourth of July Fireworks & concert, Festivall, Charleston Chili Cook-off and many more.

The park is really just a small ampitheatre-like concrete step/seat structure on the river. It's a nice setting for a concert, but otherwise it's not really worth visiting.

This waste of money site has been given the name of a rich family while numerous people paid the bills and still do. What used to be a nice site for the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta created by the Jones family (not the mayor jones) of Amherst Coal has been turned into an over priced, joke of the city government. As with many things in the area, the buddy system was able to line pockets again at the expense of taxpayers.

Had an enjoyable evening here with family to see a concert. The traffic and parking was a nightmare. We had to park so far away and Charleston is very dangerous at night. We had family from out of town that wanted to see the concert, otherwise I would never come to Charleston during the day or night as it is very dangerous and people harass you for money. I have even had purchases stolen. My cousin was car jacked at a church. My dental assistant was bodily picked up to be kidnapped and put in a car but was rescued by a stranger. We had several adult males with us, otherwise we wouldn't have come.

We were in town the weekend of a festival. We were able to park a few blocks from the river easily. The river is pretty and the band was excellent. There were not many vendors set up, but I appreciate what they are trying to do here. Not too many people attending the festival otherwise, but we were there early in the evening. Police presence was heavy, which is nothing to complain about, but worth noting.

On a warm summer night, while taking a leisurely stroll, you might come across live music, food vendors, and scores of people enjoying life and one of the most beautiful rivers ever. West Virginia in general is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, well worth a visit, and quite affordable. I urge the West Virginia Department of Commerce and Tourism Office to do more active outreach, as I think that many people are unaware of what a gem WV is.

I walked to this small section of the Riverfront from my hotel. There is a asphalt walkway built to reach the lower location. The center has a canopy covering a stage and cement seat in front, like in the amphitheater style. There were some vintage ships moored and a paid ticket was needed to visit them. Saw a lot of families with children visiting on a Sunday morning. Good for jogging and walking around. There is bridge across the river and it makes for spectacular viewing. The park is in the middle of downtown and has many restaurants and bars in the vicinity.

Free open air music right on the river front on a Friday.
Take a leisurely stroll along the riverfront or take a seat along the riverside and take in the view.
We walked across the river over the bridge and walked part of the carriage way trail and up through the park on the opposite side of the river.
Take a stroll either way and discover the signs that tell the story of West Virginia's history, for example how they found the first gas well. that's where we found the Capital builing.
