I would suggest stopping by the Capitol Market, that is where the Visitor Center for Charleston is located. Someone there can give you a map of the downtown area, and all the great local hot spots. But to answer your question, Soho's, an Italian restaurant is in the Capitol Market and has great food and the BEST bartenders (Joey & Travis). From there, take a walk down Capitol Street. It will give you a great feel for the our city. Stop by Taylor Books, it has a hip vibe. Adelphia Sports Bar & Grill located on Capitol is AWESOME! From time to time the have live music. Bluegrass Kitchen has live music and delicious food. They offer organic, if you like that option. If so, their tofu BBQ wings are AWESOME!! If you visit our Hip, Historic city on a Friday night, we have free concerts at Live on the Levee, which is on the Kanawha River.
