The tour was a great, informative visit and well worth 60 minutes to learn about the elite crew who fight forest fires by parachuting into rugged terrain. Tour is somewhat informal and packed with insight, history and great explanations along the way. You get the...More

We stumbled upon the opportunity to tour this base and were thoroughly impressed with the staff, their mission and history. Tours are informal affairs conducted by individual smokejumpers who have considerable experience to share. It's a very effective introduction to the jobs these men and...More

Our personalized tour was given by one of the smoke jumpers assigned to this base. His explanations were thorough and informative, and he was open to answering all of our questions. We were there when a fire call came in and he explained what was...More

Fantastic and interesting free tour. Just show up at the base during their operating hours and be taken on a short free tour of the base and the history of the Smoke jumpers. Merchandise available for purchase. Adults and kids enjoy this tour.

We wanted to re-visit the base. We were there about 20 years ago. We had a great tour, saw all the equipment they use, and went inside their plane (no, we didn't get to fly). A pilot is always there ready to leave at a...More

We stopped here for a tour with a group, a young Smokejumper took us around and patiently answered many questions. It's a unique place and the job itself is so challenging and unusual that everyone found it intriguing. Well worth a stop.
