Along with the 99 this road was the original western border to border road. Starts out at the Mexican border and terminates at the Canadian border. Most of the road in SoCal is overlaid with the I-15. There are older portions that are still drivable between Escondido, through Temecula/Murrieta. 395 branches off the I-15 in Hesperia, and runs along the... More

I have lived on the south side of Spokane for more than 20 years, and since my husband is a Canadian from British Columbia, Canada, we travel this highway several times a year in all kinds of weather. Let me say that during those 20 years, many improvements have been made, and the highway has gotten more safe. We usually... More

I drove this because it was necessary for my trip. It may be historic, but there is nothing that special to see. If you want historic roads, go to Rt 66 or the Lincoln Highway.

cant really rate it much higher than 3 stars, as its a road. i guess its a good road, its clean and it doesnt cause no problems, not sure how it would get more stars from me though.

Having traveled much of 395 in California, I couldn't resist taking this northernmost stretch from Spokane to British Columbia. It requires patience nearer to Spokane as you're passing right through the heart of these little towns with their attendant traffic and speed controls, but this is the charm of country driving-rolling hills, small towns, and a quiet two lane road... 395 is narrow and beautiful. Some people become impatient and want to pass when it is not safe. There are a lot of serious wrecks that could have been avoided. Enjoy the small towns along the way while heading north to Canada. One great stop is Colville. Take the time to stop and enjoy all of the sights. Drive safe!

Very scenic drive north of Spokane all the way to Canada. Many small towns and scenic spots, easy travel, little traffic, easy access to services.

this was a wonderful car ride. Winding roads up and down beautiful vistas. The road was usually two lane. Passed through many small towns (watch out for the speed zones!!)Had a picnic at one of the many sites that has picnic table, garbage cans and bathrooms!

The drive on 395 between Spokane and Sandpoint is well worth the extra time. It goes into the foothills and follows the Pend Oreille river. The views are spectacular and it is a must to stop and take advantage of trails and short driving detours. We made a morning of the drive and it was well worth it.

Once you are out of the city (Spokane) this highway gives you access to some great riding into small towns. Almost all the roads off the highway either loop back to the highway or across to route 2. Nice ride from Spokane through Newport and into Sandpoint ID.
