The journey is half the fun. You have to hike 5 miles on the Dungeness Spit to get to the lighthouse, but it is absolutely gorgeous, from the ocean waves to the piles of driftwood. Some parts are rockier than others, but it's totally doable....More

We so enjoyed our walk on the spit. We did not go the full 11 mile roundtrip to the lighthouse as we didn't have time. We went half way and had to turn back, but were thankful we got to experience walking along the Straits....More

It was nice to have a final destination for this 11 mile RT hike. There were picnic tables, restrooms, water, and friendly guest "keepers." Bring a lunch!

I checked with my friend and, after spending a week there as a lighthouse keeper, she never saw a single dog so my guess is no, dogs aren't allowed there on the beach or in the lighthouse. They may be okay in the campground... More
