A great place to go for a family picnic. Not much here though. Not ADA friendly (mom uses a walker and couldn't walk any of the trails). There is a small campground if you are fully self contained. The provided map of the grounds is confusing at best.

Not much beach access. Didn't look like there were many places to camp. Better places to camp in area.

This is not nearly as often visited as the more famous other forts around Port Townsend. There is virtually nothing left of the old fort, so don't come here for the history. BUT, it has gorgeous walking trails. We walked the Nature Trail, the Bluff Trail, and the Trillium Trail (about an hour total). The scenery, both of the water... More

This is another great place that is not discovered by many... I have hiked these trails many times and rarely run into others even in summer! Campground, forest, beach access, gorgeous views, historic trail, bike, kayak, dog friendly (on leash), picnic area... They have a sweet place for weddings and other gatherings as well. Not far from town for food... More

Fort Townsend State Park is a great place for a family outing. Lots of great hiking and beautiful sights to see. There also geocaches there if anybody is interested in that. I highly recommend this park as a nice place for the whole family. Lots of history there, too!

Fort Townsend State Park borders the ocean and is a gorgeous spit for hiking and history buffs. The site is very well maintained, close to town and fun to explore.

Unbelievable trails for walking or biking (mountain). We showed up after the Ranger had left, but you could pick a spot and envelope pay. The RV spots are limited and they were so so. But the drive in (21' and under) spots were awesome! We felt like we were in the forest.

I was taken as a guest to the site of this old Fort, which is now gone. There is a lovely road that leads down to Puget Sound so that you can be along the water where there are picnic tables. But the most outstanding part of the trip was to just wander in the forest! This time at dusk... More

Even on a cold winters day, a pleasure to walk through, peace and quiet and frosty. Wonderful! Nice trails well marked with history all around the area and good wildlife too.
