Beacon Rock State Park is a beautiful stop on a Columbia River Gorge trip. You will definitely get a chance to exercise your muscles if you climb to the top of the rock for the view of the Gorge. The climb is about a mile...More

Beacon rock was actually the hart of a Volcano that solidified remained as the rest of the volcano washed away. As you stand in the top looking down at the rive you can imagine the awesomeness felt by Lewis and Clark’s as the when down...More

Good place to take bigger kids(8+). Smaller kids if they are good listeners. There are perilous drop offs everywhere, but it is a great adventure for the younger crowd. View from the top is spectacular of course when skys are clear. Sturdy shoes would be...More

I love this park. It's rare that you can find a formation like this that is so friendly to people outside of the rock climbing/ mountaineering scene. Family friendly, but you will be walking up a ways so plan accordingly.

This was not a planned stop for us but so glad we did. The hike was a little long but it was an easy hike . The view from the top was absolutely amazing even though it was a rainy and cloudy day.

Yes, a mid 60's couple finished the climb successfully and joyfully on this, a most beautiful autumn day, Sept. 24. The beginning of the trail is fool's gold.... easy peasy. After that, it's a steady climb that feature bridges over the trail, 52 switchbacks, and...More

Just west of Beacon Rock trail is gentler Riddell Lake trail, which goes down the river with just a few steep sections. It needs maintenance because there are lots of thorny bushes and other plants overhanging this trail- maybe some local folks could give it...More

This is a fun hike for just about anyone. You'll need nothing more than athletic shoes as it's really a paved trail with handrails lots of switchbacks and a decent vertical rise. There are great views along the way to the top. The top itself...More

I thoroughly enjoyed this trail to the top. Don't be fooled by a paved trail as described. Although there is railing, there are still plenty of places you feel exposed and on the edge. The wooden walkways are really cool, but not if you are...More

Pretty easy day hike with manageable trails and inclines for beginner hikers. Quite a few switch backs but the views make it worthwhile. Plenty of vistas for taking photos. Went on a Thursday afternoon just before lunchtime and did not have very much foot traffic...More
