Icicle Gorge Trail took us about 2 1/2 hours
Jun 2021
We did the 4.5 mile loop. Most of it was in the forest, but the parts where you crossed the river were pretty cool to see the raging rapids there. Peaceful walk. Not much elevation. Just beware that at one point we were surprised to come out on the gravel road (instead of back to the parking lot, being that it's a loop and we assumed that's where we'd end up). Thankfully a family on bikes came by and told us which way to go and then you have to be sure to go back onto the trail where you see the next sign for the Icicle Gorge trail.

Excellent hike with great views of the creek
May 2021 • Family
My family hiked the Icicle Gorge Loop Trail. There's actually two different trails starting at the trailhead, the river trail and the view trail. We took the river trail which is 4 miles in length and a relatively easy hike. This trail follows along the Icicle Creek which is a wide and fast moving creek. It was a very beautiful hike with lots of great photo opportunities. You walk across several bridges one of which is a single log bridge (pretty cool!). The hiking trail is very well developed and safe for kids and dogs. There is a $5 fee to park your car at the trailhead parking lot, but you can also use a Northwest Pass and a few other passes instead (not the Discovery Pass).

Don't be fooled: this is a strenuous hike!

"Easy" is a relative term. I have read several of these reviews, and I can tell you, the full 4.2 mile loop is challenging for someone age 50+ and *very* challenging for someone age 80+. If you're not in shape, perhaps consider just hiking over the bridge to the first vista and then back. Having said this, the scenery is beautiful and not to be missed. You can get some great shots of the river. There's not much wildlife. We only saw one chipmunk and a few birds, but there are many beautiful cedars, maples, and ponderosa pines. There are dozens of flowers in all colors as well.

Challenging hike uphill with some steep switchbacks, not very long distance though so doable with the family just plan for time and bri g water. Also bring spikes after snow, you’ll meet a decent amount of ice higher up

Gorgeous trails!!!

Had an amazing time hiking the trails. The trails are very well marked and easy! The road leading to the trail is good, until the last 4 miles, which has a lot of big pot holes. Trails were not packed with people, so it was easy to social distance.

Party of 12 with 5 adults and 7 kids. Kids 1-9 and adults 35-71. No difficult climbs, rocks or roots. Well maintained. Kids had a great time. Most wore out after 2.5 miles. No problem for adults. October weekend. Met about 50 going opposite direction. Passed a few and passed by a couple. Great places for pictures.

Beautiful and easy afternoon walk. We went end of May and wildflowers were in bloom, there is so much beauty on this trail the 4 mile loop went by quickly. The road getting there is a little bumpy and a tick tried to catch a ride home on my husband so check your person before you head out.
