Went here a couple of times and always beautiful! However one time the gates were closed because it was too early, sunrise was about 5:50. Called the park because thought it was cute it being closed. The guy chuckled and said just park and go around the gate, its OK;) I ended up driving back up the road and found a little nook off to the side, was still beautiful! Envy those who wake up to that every morning, now that would start my day off right if I had that!

It wasn't what I expected, it was better! Such a pleasant, peaceful, little stretch of rocky beach. It quickly became a very special place for me.

I wanted to take my son and our dog out for a beach picnic and a friend had shared about Sunrise Beach so we decided to check it out. Good signage to get there but once we arrived there was a parking area that seemed like it was smack in the middle of someones private property - the area was in the middle of a dilapidated garage and someone's house. There were a couple of picnic tables and a grassy area but we didn't see a beach or any way to access a beach from the parking area. Very strange. Unfortunately we wound up leaving and going home to eat our picnic - we were all very disappointed.

There is a pretty steep hike from parking to "beach". Don't bring a lot of stuff. Watch the tide. High tide will give you very little beach. Rocky beach and water here has swift current. Not the best place to swim. There is no sun in the afternoon, ALL shade after 2pm. Great views. Lots of little bugs with wings. Picnic tables are located quite a ways above the beach area, so you cannot watch kids from tables.

This small, rocky beach features fallen trees to climb, a makeshift swing, and shaded areas to sit and enjoy an amazing view of Mt. Rainier, Vashon Island, and the Puget Sound. There's also a large grassy slope to sit and enjoy the sun and a few shaded picnic tables. It's a quiet and secluded area, with a few houses on site, and a small parking area that has a porta-potty. I'd imagine you could carry a small Kayak or Paddle Board down the slope and go for jaunt. It's a beautiful little area.

One of my first visits to Gig Harbor was a walk on this beach. The view is beautiful and the rocky beach was peaceful. Don't wear flip flops, good hiking shoes are a must.

I drive here when needing a break, some 'me' time. The beach is typical Puget Sound gravel, a resting spot for shells and driftwood waiting to be discovered by the discernable collector of such items. Not recommended for high tides.

This is a small out of the way park operated by Peninsula Metro Parks. There is a small parking area and port-a-potty. Most of the park is a sloping grass field with a trail down to the beach. It is possible to use this beach for dive access and swimming. The beach has a great view of southern Vachon Island, Commencement Bay, Point Defiance and Mt Rainier. This is a small lightly used park best suited for quiet time in nature. Deer, birds and other animals frequent the park.

This is a nice park run by PenMet (Peninsula Metropolitan Park District). At the parking area, walk towards the water through a grassy field, then take the path to the left to access the beach - especially nice at low tide. It's a rocky beach, fun to look around and see what's there.
