Definitely worth the time and some great views. An absolute must for this part of the country. Easy driving even for someone who normally drives on the correct side of the road (the left). Must do the interpretive centre before the drive.

Destroyed in the 1980 eruption, the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway is a great route up to Mt. St. Helens. The viewing areas along the way are plentiful, clean, and well-maintained.

Don't miss out on the views from the bridge. You can gaze out over the natural canyons and wonder that Washington state has to offer. The drive is great but the views are even better

This is a beautiful drive on a very good highway. Lots of stop off points for pictures or relaxation. Views of the river are breathtaking. You won't regret taking this road trip.

The Spirit Lake Memorial Highway (highway 504) that goes from Interstate-5 to the Johnson Ridge Visitor Center is a beautiful drive. It is a wide road with lots of bends, turns and some pull outs. The road has many large bridges as well, including the Hoffstadt Bridge. The Hoffstadt Bridge is the longest and tallest of fourteen bridges on the... More

As we left the interstate, we wondered how the road would be to Johnston Ridge Visitor's Center and was excited to find this road wide, level (bridges used to cross ravines), great views of Mt St Helens, many turnouts and am easy road that goes up 4,000 feet. Overall, about an hour drive from I5 to terminus at the Johnston... More

This is a beautiful drive. It can be slow so take your time. We were surprised at the number of bicyclists pedaling up to Johnston Ridge. Watch out for them. There are a number of blind curves. There were a also the usual drivers who want to treat this as a speedway. ignore them and pull over when you come... More
