Great walk and a good observation tower

The Sehome Hill Arboretum is a great place for a walk. Make sure to go to the observation tower for a nice view.

I walk my way to work through here almost every day. It's a great walk that offers a main trail thats pretty easy, as well as more difficult side trails. Or you can just go off the trail.

Trails maintained for any access level. Most of the trails are gently sloped so its easy to take a long or short walk through the woods. There are several paved roads so even in rainiest conditions its easy to walk without getting your shoes muddy. Observation tower is built sturdy to last many generations of enjoyment. Steady foot traffic with... More

After a great meal at Boomer's Drive-In we drove to the top and walked to the tower. On the drive up we saw wildlife just off to the side of the road. Even on a cloudy day the view from the tower was enjoyable and could see Bellingham Bay. The tunnel was a cool section of trail with a brief... More

The Arboretum has a very long climb from base to the top of the hill, so expect to get a good workout. The view from the Observation Tower is impressive, and walking through the short tunnel was fun. We took a detour while at the base of the hill to explore the neighboring university and see the sculptures and architecture... More

The nature trails are well-traveled, so ease of access is good. I recommend good traction footwear, especially if the weather is wet. The view is worth the short hike, which is about 500 feet of elevation gain.

How lucky to have this right in town. We hike in the arboretum once or twice a week. Often are the only ones there, (early morning) esp on weekends. College kids sleeping in. Sometimes run into do g walkers. Don't miss the fire tower lookout. Great view of Bham.

Gentle hiking trails in a wooded setting above Bellingham. Partial views of the bay. Pleasant area. Climb the tower for the best views. Fall and winter offer better views when the foliage is off of the trees.

I love arboretums, and this one is beautiful. You can drive to the top if you just want to go to the fire watch tower, but there is also parking right at the beginning of the park for those that want to walk through the trails it has. This is located very centrally in Bellingham, and it is worthwhile if... More

There are several nice trails in "the Arb" as WWU students call it. I think that all newcomers should at least try to make it up to the watchtower. The Sehome Hill Arboretum is a very magical place, with a lot of secrets (the shrine, dojo, swings). Definitely do some exploring, especially if you're new to WWU or the area!
