Perfect hike for beginner and intermediate level hikers. With a 1.7 mile course one way with several points of scenic view of the water falls and the mountains the hike was perfect for our family with teenage children. The restroom (dry) are at the start of the hike. There is a $3 fee per vehicle.

My mom and I went for her 56th birthday. We spent over 3 hours total, going from the bottom to the top and back down. This is probably because we stopped to take pictures of everything, from fungus, to the falls, to my mom hugging a tree. I recommend taking it slow and enjoying every step of the way.

This was a great little hike- We did not do the entire hike because this was a "travel" day with several wayside stops. It was hugely busy at the very end of leaf season on a cold but gorgeous Saturday. Normally we would have chosen something a little less busy, but it is pretty, if you don't mind sharing that... Nine of us all ventured out yesterday and hiked Crabtree Falls and then up to Spye Rock. It was a spectacular hike with great views, fresh air, and refreshing waterfalls. It was challenging on the knees and ankles, but I enjoy this type of terrain.

This hike was a bucket list adventure for me and my husband. We loved the scenery but it was a bit of a challenge for us physically. Be warned that this hike is not for the faint of heart.

This was a REALLY great hike! The trail is nicely maintained and well marked. There are multiple viewing areas, for those not wanting to hike the full 1.7 miles up. The trail is a little step, but we'll worth the climb. Can't wait to hike it again!

This was a very pleasant experience. Since most waterfalls along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive require climbing and over a mile walking I was happy to find this one. Use the upper parking lot which is much closer and walk the .1 mile in to the lower falls. You may also walk a mile or so in to... More

Such a lovely place to hike, the falls is beautiful too. Parking could be an issue on weekends but we found it luckily just in front of the trailhead.

The B&B we stayed at recommended hiking Crabtree Falls. The weather was perfect for a 2 hr hike. The way up is "up"... my iPhone said it was the equivalent of 40 stories climb. But the path is well marked and well maintained. Either physical stairs or well placed stones. But the views are worth it and the trip down... More

I'm sure depending on your experience level hiking and fitness level the challenge varies, but I'm a city girl so this was tough for me. Unfortunately due to low rain fall the falls aren't that spectacular right now, but the views of the mountains are great the higher you get. The walk up starts out being primarily stairs and the...
