Completely enjoyed this museum. Very good short tour from a staff member. Old Courthouse on ground level and civil war artifacts museum on 2nd level. Nice extra - you can ring the courthouse bell in the steeple. Well done.

Interesting exhibits relating to the Civil War, but presented in old style cases with (sometimes) faded typed labels. Worth a visit for the Civil War enthusiast.

Courthouse from 1840 that was renovated recently. Front yard used to hold soldier prisoners during the Civil War. Would recommend if you have time while in Winchester.

Great historical building. 2nd floor filled with a lot of Civil War info and artifacts. 1st floor courtroom nicely preserved. Even got to ring the bell.

A wonderfully preserved old building. I'm not a history buff, but still found it extremely interesting. It's location makes it so easy to see othe historical buildings in walking range.

Outstanding venue for historic tours, special events such as steel drumming, Celtic bands, 1st Friday & historic tours. The court house is on the historic Winchester walking mall. Every first Friday during the spring and summer months, there are numerous special events that evolve around history, ghost (reported) tours, music, art, food and just the place to be!

Accessible from the pedestrian mall or from street behind the building. Two levels with exhibits on 2nd floor. There is an elevator. $5.00 entrance fee. Eric, our guide for the main floor, was quite informative and enjoyable. Its website is informative. Set your own pace and remember to ring the bell on the second floor.

It's just okay. A lot of muskets, cannonballs, bullets that were found on battlefields. Interesting building as it was a courthouse in the 18th century.

We were able to park at a covered garage with very reasonable prices. Then we walked down an old main street full of stores and restaurants that had been converted into a pedestrian mall (no cars allowed). There was a very festive atmosphere. Small groups of musicians from the local college where performing on the sidewalks. The court house was... More

I visited here with my dad when he came for a visit. In all the years I have lived in Winchester I never stopped here before. It was really a special experience. Reading carvings in the wall from the soldiers who were held prisoner here...seeing the cannon balls, bullets, and other memorabilia...and the tour guide was so knowledgeable! I thought... More
