This was very interesting to see how the woods, marsh, land, river and seaway all interconnect. The drive was lovely, also would have been beautiful on a bike.

Lots of trails to choose from whether you're hiking, biking or on horseback. All well marked and maintained. We walked the backbone, majestic oak, and powhatan forks trails on a sunday morning. Favorite bit was watching a snail cross our path. :)

We took the 2-3 mile Taskinas Creek Trail that meandered around and up and down through a beautiful woodland with lookouts along the way out onto the grassy wetlands. A good family small adventure.

When the temperature jumps to 70 in February there is no great place to be than York River State Park. Spend time walking and driving thru the park and enjoy the sun and warm.

There's only a parking fee that you pay before entering the park. A Ranger isn't always present at the entrance and an honor system is in place.

Williamsburg is within 15 minutes. I would think someone would. Sorry I can't be specific. There was a wedding that was setting up, it looked like they had their own chef getting ready to cook on the grills!
