Overview
More
Historic Jamestowne is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Ongoing archaeology at the site of James Fort has changed our understanding of the struggles and triumphs of early 1600s life in Virginia. Living history programs and an archaeology museum tell the story of this dramatic rediscovery. The site is jointly administered by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.

Great history lesson at the museum, but be sure to visit the National Park also! the museum is run by the state of Virginia and is excellent, but the National Park Service also has a wonderful visitors center as well!

We had a great time at Historic Jamestowne as part of our trip to the Williamsburg area. Historic Jamestowne is not to be confused with Jamestown Settlement, which is a re-enactment right next door; HJ is run by the US national park service and represents...More

The staff that serve in this historical part provide insights into the European development of early American settlements. The trials and tribulations endured by these early settlers should be taught to every young person. My only suggestion is that emphasis should also be placed upon...More

They are still building this park. It has some great features and amazing history, but it is a work in progress. They are still actively doing archeological digs, so each day they are learning more. In a few years when they get some more hands...More

No charge for parking. No charge to go the Glass blowing demonstration. There is a small charge for Historic Jamestown area at the end of the road but it is well worth the charge, especially if you follow along with a... More

I did the historic triangle but don't think you could complete Gettysburg and Jamestowne due to distance. Jamestown historic site takes a couple hours then the archeological site at least two.hours
