The staff is helpful. The pier is in a great location. There are great little shops at the entrance to the pier with lovely staff. The fishing is good during the day.

Wish I had found this place sooner,because we' ve been missing out. The Fishing Pier is great!(bring your own gear),beach to swim,playground for the kids,picnic tables,bath houses. Generous parking. Handicapped parking in 1st row. Friendly employees with answers to my questions. Beautiful coastline...

No you do not need a license. As long as you pay to fish off a pier, you are good to go.

A license for large scale crabbing is necessary; however, recreational crabbing does not require a license. You can catch up to a bushel with no license. There are other exemptions. Using Google, if you search for Virginia... More

I haven't seen many. You may want to try at the Lynnhaven pier. I've seen them caught there.
