One of the beautiful places of America, I have visited 46 states and still think it is one of the natural treasures of America. Fond memories from my childhood as we lived in the Garden for several years.

A beautiful place to live! Great for hiking (part of the Appalachian Trail runs around the rim), biking or just plain sightseeing. Truly a gorgeous geographical wonder and truly, God's Thumbprint"!!

One of the prettiest drives I've been on in a while. Even though the day was rainy and dreary and it was windy and cold it was breathtaking. Well worth the drive. Very curvy road but well worth the drive.

We rode motorcycles to this awesome place. Beautiful countryside, a bowl, surrounded by mountains. There's a curvy mountain road into Burke's Garden. It's nice to see God's creation untouched, for the most part, by man. There is a road that loops thru and you can get a view of all the mountains that surround you. There is a general store... More

This is a wonderful, quiet and peaceful area just out of Tazewell, VA. It is a sunken geologic bowl that is tucked away by itself. You have to go looking for it. Once over the rim of the mountain you descend into the bowl and see the lush fields and countryside. We loved the tranquility and cool breeze, even in... More

Lovely pastures and cattle farms in a broad valley. Take 623 off of 61. As you descend from the curves, you will see a pool with a large rock on your left. Stay on 623 - it will turn to gravel, but just before that, turn left onto 625. hen turn left onto 666. This will bring you back to... More

Burkes Garden is a surprise for anyone not acquainted with farm land. Farms are well kept and beautiful. Also, to be seen is the surrounding mountain circle. All farms and crossroads are marked with owner's names. Bring a sandwich and drink and enjoy the fresh air. A camel farm is available for tours--call ahead. It's outstanding.
