Went there for my 10th anniversary. Never stayed on the Island before. So remote and wonderful. Very walk-able, or get a golf cart to get there quicker. Great food, especially if you like crabs. Can't wait to return.

Because it's not tourist season, not many people visit Tangier in the middle of December. However, I thought it was a great time to visit the island. There were cozy Christmas decorations and the churches had the annual Christmas celebrations, which were a joy to attend. The islanders were very kind and welcoming. Tangier Island is a wonderful place to... More

My fiancé and I visited the island on the recommendation of a friend. I have since reconsidered my friendship with this person. The island has a unique history that is fun to learn about but after the 15 minutes it takes to learn the history there is literally nothing to do. We didn't even have the option to ply ourselves... Tangier Island has gotten a lot of hype because it is disappearing. However, don't bother putting it on your list of places to visit. There's nothing there but annoying flies that sting. It's '2/3 marshland and nothing to write home about. The ferry ride is nice but there's no there there.

I loved visiting this place, so much history so much to see. Wished we had just another hour so I can see a bit more.

The folks at Tangier Island Cruises were very friendly and casual. Our boat wasn't running that day but they made sure we got on the Mail boat The Courtney Thomas. Allen was as friendly as can be and very attentive to his passengers and their safety.:) Great experience and got to ride over with all the goods! Fun time!!

We visited Tangier Island a week after going over to Smith Island. This is a different and more rewarding experience. Visitors are welcomed, the island has a vibrant community and the experience is rewarding. When we were there (on a day trip) some of the island was under water due to unusually high tides and heavy rain during the preceding... More

I don't think I've been anywhere in this world where people were so friendly, happy and laid back. It was awesome. I felt like we made friends for life. They will always be in my heart and prayers. My husband and I joked that there were more dead people on the island than living and my husband said it's because... More

Tangier Island may produce some of the first refugees from climate change in the USA. The island is slowly disappearing, and with it, the way of life in this unique community. It is completely worth spending a day to explore it if you are in the area (Chincoteague/Eastern Shore). I wasn't sure about going here but I really enjoyed my... More
