Start from the bottom lot for a gorgeous hike. You will almost immediately be crossing and walking along beautiful waterways, so even if the trail gets too tough further up, you will be rewarded. We actually hiked the entire trail up to Skyline Drive and to Skyland for lunch- This is about 6 miles uphill, but we had a warm... More

we did this hike on October 30th, 2016. It was long for a novice hiker like me, need action shoe as the trail is rocky. It took us 2.5hrs including small breaks for pics. We started to hike around 4:30 and it was dark by 6:40, we did hike for 20mins in very dim light. Overall it's a great trail... More

I am by no means a really athletic person but I hiked this with my boyfriend and did it in tennis shoes. The hike we took was the blue route and it took us 3 hours and 45 min to get to the big waterfall. It was the first waterfall I have ever seen and it was amazing! I was... More

Wonderful day hike but get there early as parking is limited. Hike was fairly easy for us, but it is rocky and in areas wet. Recommend hiking boots over sneakers. More enjoyable than Old Rag which has turned into a zoo.

We do this hike every year and know people who live in the area who do it every week. You can hike all the way up to Shenandoah National Park or vice-versa but that takes all day. The swim in the pool at the bottom of the first falls is a refreshing fun photo op and a welcome reward on... More

There are options on how to do this loop hike. I parked at the Whiteoak Canyon lot off of Rt. 600 near Syria, VA. There is a ranger shed at the lot that may or may not be staffed, but if not, there is a place to leave your park fee. I hiked the loop counter-clockwise, taking the Whiteoak Canyon... More

This is a moderate hike with moderately steep uphill climb back. If you want a nice 3 hour -4 hour hike with less traffic this one may be for you.We parked at mile marker 43 and started down the Limberlost trail. This is a perfectly manicured trail for kids and elderly with benches. We took it to Whiteoak Canyon trail... More

We parked at the lower Hawksbill parking area (on Skyline Drive) and took Cedar Run Trail to the Link trail to White Oak Canyon trail. The Cedar Run trail was downhill for 1.5 hours over very rocky terrain. It was not particularly pleasant. The Link trail was over moderately rolling terrain. Once we got on the White Oak Canyon trail... More

An incredible place that SOME inconsiderate (fill in the blank)'s use as their personal trash cans. My wife and I hiked it a few days ago and were dismayed at the amount of liter. We also encountered three young ladies who apparently could not comprehend the meaning of DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH.

Nice, fairly easy hike from the entrance to the first of the lower falls. Water was cold which felt good after hiking. The water is about waist deep. Mostly slightly up hill going in and back down going out.
