Do you love history....here's the spot to step back in time during the battles of the Civil War. Expect to spend at least a few hours walking and reading about the battle here and learn why this was a key point in the War.

The battlefield history is particularly interesting as the tides of the civil war changed after these battles. Inparticular the story of Stonewall Jackson mortally wounded by 'friendly fire' and his grave are worth visiting.

This memorial site has sensitively preserved the actual battle site, as well as having a very good interpretative centre, with a video and display material. Watching the video first enabled us to have a better understanding when we walked the battle site, which was a...More

One should not be surprised that the NPS has outstanding sites, but I am frequently impressed despite how many of these things I visit. This battle was one of America's bloodiest, and one where movement proved superior to numbers. The site features a nice visitor...More

Loved the visit here and to me if you love history and the Civil War, its a must if you are in area. Museum and short film were great as was walking the hallowed grounds. It was fabulous and recommended for history buffs.

The Visitor's Center is a must - this Civil War battle was partly in the town and the Visitor's Center works to explain the impact of the battle on the town and its citizens - as well as on the participants.
