I did make the trip to bla k dog salvage and I would go again. Lots of repurchased. Stuff and gift ideas. Neat place to look around

I've heard about this place for awhile and finally went. There is so much here. Take the time to wander around. I would have loved one of their custom made butcher blocks, but those were way out of my price range. And the custom made kitchen carts looked very nice, but sadly my kitchen is simply too small for one. But they have everything in their salvage area, doors, windows, lighting, fireplace mantles, and more. If you like repurposing or antiques, you must stop here.

Definite awesome pieces of art and household items. This place gave us a lot of inspiration for our upcoming house and decoration ideas. Have a long road trip ahead of us but we were looking at items to possibly bring home. Will be looking up their website to see if they have an online catalog or something

We enjoyed looking here and seeing the many types of things they have. It is a large place with a good variety. The prices are a little high, but it's fun to see what they have to offer.

We went there today and it was well worth the trip as well as even got to meet Mike Whiteside, He was very pleasant, took the time to greet us and even shook our hands. Lots to see and leave yourself a couple of hours to get it all in. We HIGHLY recommend it. Mike & Katie

Wife and I traveled here from Boone County Kentucky for our 46th Anniversary trip. We wanted to see the home of Salvage Dawgs, one of our favorite TV shows. Lots to choose from. Prices are on the high side - but they have just about everything (and if they don’t have it - you don’t need it). Went back the next day for their vendors sale. Had a blast! We’ll be back!!

This is as much a museum for house supplies and artifacts, as it is a business, and it is great that they have an open door policy that allows the public to just roam freely throughout the shop.
Having grown up in a 100+ yo home, and lived in several equally old houses, one of which was over 200 years old, I enjoyed pointing out pieces to my daughter and wife, and explaining the periods they were popular.
By all means, go and see for yourself.

Black Dog is always a fun place to go when we're in Roanoke. Even when we don't buy anything, we get a lot of ideas! The staff is welcoming and friendly! If you plan to visit, be sure to take measurements at home first. You never know what you'll find!

There is so much to see here. From individual vendors ‘booths’ to furniture creations by owners & artists. This is truly an amazing place!

Bring a large empty vehicle. I would have loved to snag a few items but our car was not big enough. They have a little of everything and it is well organized. The staff are very friendly, especially the elder gentleman at the front entry. You don't get that funky old stuff smell that some places have. Some of the prices were a little high but some bargains were to be found.

Hi Carla, I understand that they are very expensive , after reading other reviewers posts. Did you also find this store much higher in expense than other antique stores. If that's the case I wouldn't be interested , especially if they are really overcharging because apparently they are on a TV show. Thanks for your feedback. I know it's sort of a difficult question , as " overly expensive " can be a relative opinion. Best and thank you again , Bonnie

It's going to depend on what your looking for. They re-purpose many things and they are unique items. Some things like doors, windows, shutters, gates, fencing can be reasonable but remember, those designs are generally not available today in the open market. If your looking for large doors, intricate style or special wood, they may have them but you will pay. They had an old butcher block, very large, solid wood I think the price was around $800, fair price and unique if you have the room.

Black Dog Salvage is an antique / hardware salvage store I shopped in Roanoke. The hotel I stayed in was called Rose Hill Bed & Breakfast, on Washington Ave. Our room slept 3, but wasn't 3 beds. I recommend calling the owner, Wendy - she will be happy to work this with you.
