Having lived in Roanoke for many years, I was impressed by this FREE place to wander in the center of the city. Don't miss the rooftop view and Koi pond. Their are also paid options like the butterfly museum that is worthwhile.

We ducked into the center from the adjacent candy store (excellent selection, BTW) and saw the aquariums in the lobby. There are some interesting attractions here that would be fun to see, but we simply ran out of time.

Very nice shops and the vendors at the farmers market make this a great place to wander on a Saturday morning. If you go, do a web search for free parking which is available on weekends.

Nice shops and fun to visit. We happened to be there on a weekend when they had a market and people were selling crafts. Also they have a public bathroom if you find yourself or kids caught downtown for another event.
