It only takes about 10 minutes to find your way to the road leading to the top of Mill Mountain in Roanoke. At the top, you're treated to a broad vista of the city and surrounding hills. Cool and peaceful, this is a great spot...More

Once up at the top of Mill Mountain, you get a breathtaking view of Roanoke. The star is also a nice little history lesson, but you're really there for the view.

Nice drive & a beautiful view. It's best to visit during the week when it's not as crowded. I hope to visit at night eventually.

We enjoyed an evening visit to the Mill Mountain Star and a beautiful view of the lovely city of Roanoke. My kids were particularly "tickled" to learn that it had appeared on an episode or two of The Walking Dead.

Star is okay, the real attraction is the view of the city from the overlook. Go at night. The view is spectacular. Free parking and easy access.

I usually come here since I’m local. If you’re going to go, pick a day when it’s not hot, not a weekend or when a kids birthday party is going on. You can see the star and get some incredible views of Roanoke. Make sure...More

Can’t beat the view of the Roanoke Valley. It’s absolutely beautiful up at the Star. Definitely a must for visitors in Roanoke.

We saw the star on the hill and had to go investigate. Up close it was huge and had a beautiful overlook. We didn’t do any hiking, but there are some short trails around it.

There is a two lane road to the top & two parking areas. The ascending grade is gradual enough you can see where you’re going. It should be ok & the view is worth it.

Yes, but it is not a dog park. You would have to keep him/her on leash. There are often kids running around by the star. I believe the are has a number of hiking trails that you would enjoy.

Once its dark, it lights up good. You can see it from a distance. And reference the hike. You can drive and park almost next to the star. You walk around the corner and its there and the lookout. Very nice
