I have been coming to the "Star" since I was a student in college in the early 1980's and come by every time I'm close to Roanoke. The view(s) on a clear night is second to none.

This is a really cool, giant star. We waited around until it lit up for the night and that was so neat as well. There is a really good view of the town from up there as well.

You can hoke or drive to the top. We chose to drive. The views from the star @ night are absolutely breathtaking. Worth the trip to the top.

It is on top of the only mountain in the city of Roanoke. A great place to take pictures, and the view is very pretty.

We went around 7 in the evening by the time we got there it was dusk dark and the star looked great. The parking area is right next to the platform to view the star so the walk is very brief to and from the star.
