One room, ok but not much to rush to see. Use it as a fill in if you’re in the area because it’s free. If you’re interested in a detailed explanation of the local civil war battles, there is another room with a great video

My husband is a train buff and really enjoyed this museum. I liked that it covered all types of transportation not just trains. My favorite was the old cars. The museum was well kept and has a good variety of items for all ages to enjoy. The train area is impressive if you have never been around old engines--they are huge! I liked the mail car and the nice write-up explaining its history. The other side of the museum that continues with planes and ships did surprise me, that wasn't spoken of in other reviews, they too were well presented. Definitely a place to check out when in the area!

My mom and I visited during our stay when we were looking for something to do. I've never been to a museum with trains before. They were amazing to see. I wish they had more open that you could climb up in. There is also a decent collection of vintage cars. We saw several groups of school children and there were some interactive exhibits for them.

Nice little museum. Have a good automotive section with older vehicles from the early 20th century. And a DeLorean.
The train area is nice, especially if you bring the kids.
Take the time to read and learn as you walk through to appreciate the history more

So fun for train lovers and vehicle lovers in general. Really cool model train layout, HUGE rail yard, interactive exhibits.

There were more forms of transportation included in the museum than I expected to see. As train lovers, we enjoyed getting to see the number of locomotives outside as well as the model train inside the museum. The bus exhibit, and aerospace exhibit were of interest too. There wasn't much in the way of water transport that we saw, just a small area, but it was interesting non the less. It seems like the hands-on exhibits aren't really up and active right now (I guess for Covid reasons) but there is still a lot to enjoy otherwise.

The museum is both indoors and outdoors with a variety of old train cars in the rail yard behind the building. A small antique car collection, but half were versions of Studebakers. More information inside about bus and train transportation. Get the joint ticket for the O. Winston Link Museum if you are there when both are open.

We visited with our grandson who has been a train lover for years. Enjoyed our visit, many huge locomotives and they even have one you can get in and touch the controls.

This was a delightful small museum for a family. My son loves trains so this was perfect for him. We were very impressed with what they have been able to achieve. I would recommend this as an additional stop if you are in the area for Natural Bridge or the Virginia Highlands.
