Just a few miles from Kilmarnock. I drove here while my husband was attending a conference meeting at The Tides Inn in Irvington. I did question the wisdom of going to such a remote place alone, but decided solitude was worth a little risk. A short walk down the boardwalk trail from the small parking area I had to choose... I love the beach at the point. The dogs love it too, I know you are supposed to keep them on the leash but they love to run down the beach and splash in the bay.

I live nearby and always take out-of-town guests here. Lots of wildlife and usually very few people. It tends to be windy there. I gave it a four out of five because there are no facilities.

Spent several hours enjoying the marsh and the bay without any commercial distraction - really enjoyed the wildlife and serenity. We saw swans, egrets, and a bald eagle! Great for kids and dogs too with open areas to run. Swimming is prohibited but folks were wading and playing in the bay 😉

Worth a detour if you like to walk in natural areas. Beautiful marsh and pond, natural beach and shifting sands. Chesapeake Bay au natural!
