This is very nice 😊 trail . Another thing in the forest 🌳 you see a lot of nice lushness. Also the scenery is lovely.🥰. Lastly, I recommend to anyone on their visit to the Bay of Islands.

My husband and I did this walk on a rainy day – we got pretty wet but the forest was still beautiful and green, at times enhanced by the rain. The trees, bush, bird calls etc were marvellous. We did the walk to the kauri tree look out. In the wet weather the hills in the distance were shrouded but I think it was still worthwhile doing this over the short circuit walk only. There were a lot of steps and some steep sections, nearly all stable gravel, the steps edged with wood. There were a couple of seats to sit on here and there along the way, and one small bridge crossing a creek. Some parts of the track were a little wet underfoot but nothing that couldn’t be walked around. We still managed to do this in less time than the suggested hour, despite me stopping for numerous photographs and being relatively unfit. Overall, this was a lovely walk off the beaten track.

Drive in from Waipapa along pungaere road and first go right and walk the 5 minute loop track that is all board walk (a completely accessible track). What an amazing stand of Kauri.
Then.... retrace back along the road to the recreation reserve and the start of multiple tramping tracks to the 1 hour nature track loop. Lots of roots and steps but a good enough track. They have many many plaques and the diversity of plants is amazing along with more Kauri. We have walked many Nz bush walks over 60 years. This was beautiful.

This short walk is an easy way to view large Kauri and was thoroughly enjoyable. The walkway is a piece of cake for any age and the road in and out is not bad at all.

This boardwalk is easy and quite special ..there are many gigantic Kauri trees here. Remember there is no cell phone coverage and the roads are a bit pot holed!!

Not far from Paihia - if you stay there for a vacation - is this ancient Kauri forest. It is well worth the one hour plus walk on a very good prepared walkway to admire this ancient nature, especially the giant Kauri trees.

Total surprise and not well published is this boardwalk around huge kauri trees. So worth it. Totally awed. The site is not sign posted or advertised so you’ll have to search. Not on our god so went a long hard way but worth it.

I wasn't expecting to much having visited other Kauri Forests but this was up there with Tane Mahuta.
It's a short drive crib Keri keri and only a short loop track but it's so lovely. Huge trees with a well laid track.

The trail through the Puketi Forest is beautiful, green, lush, and scenic. You'll hear native birds like the New Zealand fantail as you walk through the towering trees. It's a little like the redwoods in California but not as big as those. We learned a lot from our guide about the importance of the kauri trees to the Maori people, and about their culture/beliefs as well.
