We visited for lunch based on a recommendation from friends. Staff were friendly and service was prompt and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious platter overlooking the vineyard with a lovely glass of rosè and pinot noir.

What a great place to be for lunch. The waiting staff, in the main were young. They were open, honest and so willing to please. They were knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

The food was excellent. Apart from the odd personal preference, like more lemon/salt on the quinoa salad aspect of the Vegan bowl, everything was exactly on point. My partner in crime had the Pork belly and the verdict was "Delicious"

The outside setting was beautiful.

We had the "Flight of Five" wine option. We loved the opportunity to try five different wines (who wouldn't?) and while some were not to out taste we did choose what we tasted.

I can thoroughly recommend the cafe at the Margrain Vineyard as a place to lunch and have a great value for money experience.

We went into the tasting room and I asked if they had any vegan wines. The man repeated “vegan wines! They are all made from grapes!” When I asked if they used fish skins or egg whites in the filtering processes he said they used eggs. I found him not very friendly or kind. I can recommend Tiro Hana Estate, all their wines are vegan friendly as they filter them using clay and the young lad who taught us about their wines was delightful!

We always used to go here when visiting Martinborough. It has always been that if you buy a bottle, your tasting is free. However, they have now changed it to $10 per tasting, regardless whether you buy a bottle or not. So this now puts the cheapest bottle at nearly $40. We won't be going back anymore, think they need to reconsider that decision.

I will start off by saying the wines I tasted were beautiful and well described by the member of staff. However, she was rude and abrupt. I can appreciate that this is a difficult time in the hospitality industry, but kindness and manners cost nothing and would have made the experience a lot better. We were a small group who had a lovely meal, but the restaurant was busy and the staff barely coping.

We where on a wine tour of Martinborough last Thursday.
Our guide took us to this vineyard which was the first of four. When we arrived we where greeted by a Elderly Man saying "Hope you aren't going to be long as I have group due soon" great way to greet potential wine buyers. He didn't explain the wines we had to ask the questions basically wanted us out of there - waste of money for tasting. He advised he owned the land but leased the restaurant.
When we left about 15 mins later the other group hadn't arrived!! Definitely wouldn't recommend even our tour guide said he wouldnt be back. :(

Beautiful place, very friendly staff. Wine was even better. We left with 4 bottles and a big smile. Make sure you come here first so your pallet is fresh, you'll still like it later on - but for a different reason.

We stayed here for 4 days with two other couples. We enjoyed the wine tasting and the hostess was friendly and helpful with info about the area. We stayed in the house, not the villas. The accommodation was fine and the breakfast was lovely. Overall the property has a rustic feel , but is a little tired. The gardens definitely need a bit of tlc. We all enjoyed our stay👍

I've been a Margrain club member for a few years so I'm very familiar with their wines. Have previously stayed in their villas too. For this time, we paid a visit for brunch and did a tasting with my companions. Kate and Bruce looked after us wonderfully. Have to say, Kate is great! Good brunch followed on from our testing too. Margrain are the epitome of Martinborough.
