A world search, which also included France, Germany, North and South America as well as Australia for the ideal area with perfect conditions for viticulture, especially for Pinot Noir, brought Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, graduates of the German Viticulture and Oenology University in Geisenheim to the Wairarapa, New Zealand. Schubert vineyards are closely planted and the unique climate produces low yields and internationally award winning wines with intense and complex character; predominantly exported to currently 25 countries.

This German inspired winery is worth a visit. You get to taste 5 wines for $5. The $5 is deducted from the price of any wine you buy. The tastings are in the most beautiful Austrian wine glasses which they also sell for about $30 each. Worth a visit

Visited here to focus on the reds as their Pinot Noir has an enormous reputation which is well deserved. They sell out of the legendary Block B that I had to go on a waiting list for the next vintage. Attentive knowledgeable service with a $5 tasting fee which is waived if you buy a bottle.

We had a great experience with Neil, very knowledgeable and he took time to chat with us even though we came in late in the day! We ended buying the 2013 syrah at the wine shop per his recommendation, as they were out of stock there :)

Had a great wine tasting hosted by Neil. He was knowledgeable, funny and let us do the wine tasting even though we came in just before closing. He didn't rush us, was great to talk to and the wine was beautiful.

My husband's and my first vist to Martinborough. Had to pay a $5 tasting fee which is waived if you buy a bottle of wine, but the wine was not cheap and it was hard to find one that we liked. The girl that served us was not very friendly.

Our least favourite winery of the holiday. Very quick tasting. No personality from the host. Didn't want to engage in much conversion. The smallest pours we have ever had.

Went when they were quite busy but still received amazing service. Bought some yummy wine - definitely recommend visiting!

Dear Allymay76, Thanks very much for your kind words about your experience at our tasting room. Sometimes it is very quiet and then suddenly it seems everybody is coming at once and our little tasting room is about to burst. Very happy you still had a great time even so it was very busy and very glad too you are... More

This is a lovely boutique winery and the wines were nice but the whole tasting experience could be improved by creating a much more comfortable and welcoming tasting room. What they currently have is a bit bleak to be honest and visually unappealing. The hostess was friendly, welcoming and knowledgable.

Dear kristabel2016, Thank you for your comments. I hope you enjoyed the presentation and tasting of our wines even so you disliked the appearance of our tasting room. Indeed it is a very simple building. Our main focus is the quality of our wines hence we prefer simplicity in our tasting room, so no other stuff or nick-nacks for sale... More
