Overview
More
The Cathedral Range is a spectacular seven kilometre ridge of sharply upturned sedimentary rock, with rich natural and cultural heritage, the Range is a special place. This 3577ha park offers you a range of activities from relaxed camping by a clear mountain stream to an exciting climb to its high exposed peaks. A variety of walking tracks ranging in difficulty from easy to challenging offer the opportunity to explore the park's main features and climb the peaks to enjoy views of the forests and farmland in the valley below. Rock climbing, fishing and camping are other popular activities that can be enjoyed in this park. Enjoy a picnic by Little River at Neds Gully or Cooks Mill camping areas. From Melbourne follow the Maroondah Highway to Buxton towards Taggerty. Continue past Buxton for 9.5km and turn right into Cathedral Lane to find the park entrance 2.5km on your right. Roads within the park are not suitable for coaches beyond Little River Bridge.

We were looking for a challenge so we headed for the hard walks despite a variety of tracks available in this large area. The Wells Cave Track up to Sugarloaf Peak is considered extremely challenging and for very experienced bushwalkers, classified as very hard (ascent...More

Cathedral Ranges offers many levels of bush walking/hiking with some of the best mountain views over looking the Great Dividing Range. A packed picnic lunch and drinks are a must to sit and enjoy anyone of the numerous view points along the ridge line.

I did this hike with my school and we didn't really know what was ahead of us looking up the mountain. As quick as we did it (which was just under an hour), the narrow, uneven path proved challenging with the benefit of a very...More

We camped overnight at Cooks Mill and did the most of the Northern Circuit Walk (8.5km with car shuffle between Jawbone and Neds). This hike had 360o sweeping views along most of the trail. Our kids (8yr & 11yrs) did it reasonably easy though they...More

I walked up the paths to FarmYard and back to the camping ground; well sign posted with lots of steps but all manageable. Very peaceful, amazing diversity of flora and also saw some wildlife on the way. Will do this again!

Beautiful shady walks and stunning views. Lots of wildlife to look on evening drives when we couldn't get the kids to sleep!

Been up the Cathedrals a couple times. Absolute ripper views and the tracks vary from easy and hard. Defiantly would recommend doing a walk

This excursion is best treated as a full day trip out of Melbourne, the drive via Healesville and the Black Spur Pass passes through beautiful country with the opportunity to add a wine tasting at one of the wineries en route. I opted for the...More

We visited and came across some lovely natural Australian bushland. Once at the saddle the vista of Rock formation is spectacular. Camping spots with toilets available. Great walking tracks.
