This was hands down the best massage in my life! And everyone was so wonderful and accommodating to our needs. We didn’t know to ask for the sauna and steam room ahead of time and they were so kind to get it started before our treatments. Can’t wait to go back. I would drive here from San Diego anytime!

I got a deep tissue massage when I was staying at the adjoining condo rentals. it was pure bliss, I've never been so relaxed in my life. the room was clean and warm unlike many spa rooms I've been in. There was a heater in the room!!
Great location, great services. Others in my group got facials and their skin looked amazing afterwards. I wanted to get a facial before we left mexico but I ran out of time.
Making an appointment is recommended because they can fill up quick.
also you can get a fast pass for crossing the border which is really really really helpful. Saves a lot of time having a pass. Plus the pass has a map on it for the border (which without can be confusing)

My girlfriends and I booked a package #1 this weekend, the SPA is clean and in a cute little condo complex. We were so excited when we got there and really wanted to love the SPA, in my opinion the prices are somewhat comparable to the US so I expected a high level of service.
THE MASSAGE
Great service, I was relaxed and enjoyed my two hours. The girls are skilled and attentive.
THE SPA
Very clean and updated facility
Website advertises soft beverages & fruit, we got neither, only room temperature small water bottles, I had to ask for more.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
I asked the manager/owner we wanted to use the sauna or saunas, she seemed inconvenienced by such, she said she had emailed via our reservation we had to requested it ahead of time. I came to double check no such comment. (I'm sorry we just spent $500 in two hours at your business, maybe you could be nice about it). She finally turned on the sauna room.
We decided to head out to the pool to relax, they said" Where are your towels? I am at a spa why do I need to bring my own towels, they made us a "FAVOR" and let us take them outside but had to promise to bring them back.
Pool and hot tub were FREEZING cold... no thank you
There is a restaurant attached to it and it's a separate business, we ordered a bottle of champagne, you think after spending that amount of money we would get something, instead we paid for a $30 for a bottle of cooks champagne..
CHECKOUT
Went to check out, paid with card, there is an extra 3% charge for using it. it's is not on their site ANYWHERE and you can't add tip to it . MAKES TOTAL sense.
Girl at checkout was not nice either, you can't run a business with an attitude.
All in all, we had good massage/facial service but not the SPA experience advertised.

MrsRed,
Thank you for your business and taking the time to share your experience. Every business needs customer feedback – good and bad – to improve.
Please let me offer my sincere apologies and you should know we took action on making my website clearer for other customers.
You are totally right. A poor attitude has no place in a business that offers an environment to relax, unwind and be pampered.
I am very happy that you had good services. Your friends said many nice things about their treatments. Our staff is continuously learning new things to provide better results to our customers. I have personally flown to Mexico City to learn massage and skin care from renown professionals. My esthetician license allows me to train others in how to do skin care and new knowledge is passed on to the staff. We use only the highest quality products, aromatherapy and oils to give the best treatments.
You brought up some great points that we have addressed for the clarity of future customers. The following text has been added to the General Information and Spa Experience pages on our website or edited to be more accurate:
___________________________________________________________
Payment Options
The spa accepts cash, Master Card and Visa. Note: there is a 3% charge for credit cards when used in Mexico.
Sauna, Steam Rooms, and Pool
All customers are welcome to use our aromatherapy sauna and steam room. However, we do not keep the heat on all the time to save energy. Please let us know before your appointment or as soon as you arrive that you would like to use either of them so we can get the heat to the right temperature. If you are planning to use either of the heated rooms before to your first treatment, come a half hour early and relax and enjoy. If you let us know before you arrive so we can turn on the heat in the room of your choice and it will be ready.
Our spa is an independent business. Customers of Spa Ventana al Mar are allowed to use the resort's pool and hot tub outside our spa. Be sure and bring a beach towel if you plan on using the resort pool. Please note that these are resort facilities and we cannot control the temperature of the water.
_____________________________________________________________
Also, we always keep a basket of fruit and bottled water on a table near the changing area. You are welcome to enjoy as much as you like while at our spa. The towel issue is harder to resolve. The resort only supplies towels to their guests and the spa has lost many towels at the pool. The best solution seems to be to ask spa guests to bring a beach towel if they are planning on using pool and jacuzzi.
Thank you for coming with your friends. Once, again please accept my apologies and my gratitude for improving my customer service.

I visited the spa in February and had a good experience. Our spa experience was not without flaws, but I am awarding 5 stars because the service was truly exceptional, I could see that all the staff gave 100% effort to make it a perfect experience, and because Maria (the owner) is very talented and hardworking.
The good:
My massage (by Maria) was amazing, and I am picky. I am a bodyworker trained in many types of massage, and I've been to spas all over the world, mostly high end (Bali, Hong Kong, Morocco, HI, Argentina, Turkey, Las Vegas) as well as several spas in Rosarito and Ensenada. Most of my Mexico spa experiences have been mediocre at best....massage is usually decent to good, but facials and pedicures always seem to leave me disappointed. Not the case with Via Del Mar. I had a hot stone pedicure, a European facial (I think), and a 1 hour massage. This is the first time in my life that I got an hour massage that was actually longer than an hour!
The pedicure was a great concept, and they took a lot of time gently grooming my feet, including (I'm not kidding): shaving my toes. They had a bit of fuzz, and I didn't miss it. The facial was really nice (despite my allergic reaction to one of the products), the massage part was amazing...and Maria uses unique techniques. Rather than steam, she opens the pores w/ some time of hot wax (I'm pretty sure that's what it was). The facial is very results driven and my skin looked nice after. She actually groomed my brows, which was very much needed and appreciated!
The bad: here are some things that could be improved:
Booking, by email was a hassle. My first appt. (I made more than 1 week in advance) was cancelled by Maria the day before our trip to Rosarito, because of a spa plumbing issue. I understand that uncontrollable things happen, but we got a nonrefundable hotel reservation after making the spa appt., and Maria did not offer us any solution, although she was very apologetic. The next time we booked a few weeks later, was sort of hectic as well. I made an appt. again, then a hotel reservation, a week in advance. I confirmed our appts and time with Maria, but just before I left for Mexico, I got a strange message making it sound like the reservation was not definite. It made me really nervous, and I did not get a response back for several hours while I was trying to leave for Mexico. Also worth noting, while I was trying to decide the perfect appt. time, she told me we had to come in the morning because they had other clients in the afternoon, so we agreed. When we visited, there were no other clients and it appeared they were closing after we left. I think the just wanted to be done early, but I don't like dishonesty.
While the facial was awesome, I did have an allergic reaction to one of the products (I've never experienced this before), and while Maria handled it well, it happened twice during my facial and it burned like hell right under my eyes! She said it wasn't red, but the next 2 days there was redness and my skin was so sore, I could not touch it or were makeup. I think this was just a random fluke, and I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't have the same sensitivity (I think it was an essential oil).
My pedicure never dried, so when I put my shoes back on, the polish got ruined. It was a cold day and I was a bit cold during a lot of my visit, although they made effort to keep me warm with blankets and space heaters. I wanted to warm up in the Sauna, but they apparently never turned it on and it would take to long to warm up. I think they should have asked us if we were planning to use the sauna that day considering it was really cold and it was supposed to be included with our visit. Also, some of the hot stones were so hot they burned me, which I didn't realize until too late because my skin was freezing and it took me a moment to realize I was being burned. The burned areas made the rest of my pedicure a bit painful.
While fruit and tea were available, alcoholic beverages could be brought from the attached bar for a cost, so my husband had to go settle a tab for a few beers he drank throughout the course of the day. The markup was high, and it felt petty considering most high end spas offer complimentary wine or champagne....I suspect this spa has a contract with the bar requiring them to only serve alcohol from their bar. Oh well.
Overall, the spa was beautiful, attention to detail and customer service were excellent. There are some small changes that could have been made for me to have a perfect experience, but I have a lot of respect for this little spa which is trying to create the perfect experience. I will go back whenever I can, and I hope booking will go more smoothly.

We were in town for a wedding and were recommended to go here. Maria made my appointments and fit four of us all at once for the package #1. We all enjoyed our treatments and relaxed. Two of us have never been to a spa before and felt very comfortable. Very beautiful and clean place.

A very nice Spa with friendly staff. The massage was the best. I just had a 55 minute Swedish massage and it was fantastic. It will be a regular stop for myself and my wife. The bar next door made the best Bloody Marys.
