On March 9, 2012, my 34-year-old niece was killed here when the waves and undertow pulled her out beyond anyone's reach. Please don't confuse this with a Disney ride and all of its protections. It is a force of nature more powerful than you or I.

I write this review with a heavy heart. We are deeply sadden by a drowning at The Bubbly Pool just two days after our visit. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim.
Visitors to The Bubbly Pool should excercise extreme caution, always keeping in mind that conditions at The Bubbly Pool vary with conditions at sea. On days when the sea is very calm, The Bubbly Pool might be - as another visitor described it - "as quiet as a mill pond". However, in heavy seas, and especially at high tide, the force of waves coming into the pool and of the tow going out of the pool is amazingly powerful, and the rocks of the surrounding cliffs become slippery with the spray.
We visited The Bubbly Pool on a good day - neither too calm nor too wild - with six or seven foot seas. Playing in the pool was a wonderful and unique experience. Each time a "big" wave would enter the pool, the pool was filled with rushing foam. As the wave would withdraw, we were surrounded with tiny bubbles ... much like being in a glass of freshly poured champagne. Even so, we always kept our eyes to the sea and stayed clear of the potentially dangerous areas of back flow. We also were aware (and remarked to each other at the time) that, since rogue waves occasionally occur even in calm seas, we were assuming a risk.
As another reviewer has stated, this spectacular natural feature is NOT a "Disney ride". Go see The Bubbly Pool, and enjoy the lovely hike past the salt pond and the poisonous tree. The pool is interesting and beautiful even if you do not enter the water. Enter the pool and/or climb the cliffs only after you have carefully considered the present danger.

I am confirming that an American tourist died while at the bubbly pool this past Friday 3/9. I knew her. A strong tide pulled her out into the ocean and despite the efforts of her family, other tourists, and the British version of Coast Guard, she died. Exercise caution.

Plenty of fun to be had here for an hour or so.
Alike to other reviews clearly one needs to apply common sense based on the size of the swell...
Easy to find with plenty of markers telling you to avoid the poisonous trees!!! Just moor up at Foxy's Taboo and walk ~15 minutes.
Good opportunity to check out the shallow mangrove area for juvenile sharks.

Be careful . Two people within the last 2 years have been swept out to sea and drowned. On March 9 2013 my daughter and I witnessed a 34 year old man get killed when a wave crashed him into the rocks knocking him unconscious and pulling him out to see. It was a horrible experience. On heavy north shore swell days don't mess with mother nature.

Been there twice. No vegetation due to Irma. Walk is easy—-wear shoes. Pool is as always. Ignore closed signs.

Not really worth the walk in my opinion. There's a better one in St Thomas, Peterborg/Picara Point. Tougher to get to though.

My 8 year old who hates everything refused to leave. Pool is full of fish and the rushing bubbling Atlantic waters are cool and refreshing.

Is it possible to hire a water taxi on Jost to approach Soggy Dollar from the water, and for what cost? We’ve been before and that was so memorable we’d now like to share it with the rest of the family, but have probably blown the budget already regarding charters, so a water taxi would be the next best thing.
