This was a nice short drive to get out and away from the city. The drive was nice and relaxing as there’s no traffic this time of year which is great since there’s only one lane in each direction. So, we were able to stop and go and drive at our own pace. Being November quite a few things were... More

What an amazing way to spend an afternoon, and so close to the City! The architecture and style of the vintage homes is amazing, and essentially this is a road trip full of wineries, a brewery, chocolate, crafts, etc. The trip takes about 4 hours, so be sure to give yourself enough time. We stopped at the chocolaterie, one gift... More

The Chemin Royal which circles Isle d'Orleans is a beautiful and relaxing drive. We drove it during the fall and the change of colors were a real treat. The small villages all around the island are filled with quaint houses and small business primarily revolving around agriculture; lots of farms, a few wineries, cheese stores, and chocolate stores. We were... More

If I lived in Quebec City, I would go to the Island every weekend to go shopping for fresh vegetable, fruits, eggs, cider, wine or just to enjoy the countryside 20 minutes away from town. Driving through the shaded Chemin Royal in the little town of Sainte-Petronille was enchanting. The south side of the island is less wooded, but has... More

Driving around this rural island in the St. Lawrence is a little like stepping back in time. Produce stands, a few restaurants the chocolate/ice cream shop at one end. Gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence and the farmlands. The bridge to the island is scenic also. Very close to Montmorency Falls. Could be done the same day...we did. And so... More

Just a short drive from Quebec City, driving around Ile d'Orleans is a relaxing and scenic drive. Views of the Saint Lawrence, charming old houses and churches and interesting shops along the way. Lots of dining options. Leave yourself 3-4 hours for the loop with lunch and multiple stops (about 40 miles).

Coming from a big city, it is always a welcoming site to see greenery. The drive around the island is very relaxing. There is a section of the road that is been worked on as of the time of this posting so we ended up detouring on a dirt and gravel road in the fields. It did not dampen our... More

This is such a great drive around the island. There are fruit stands everywhere and I had the best strawberries fresh from the field. Take your time and stop and visit. I recommend hitting the visitors center first for a map of all the things to do on the island.

We took a few hours to circle the island and made just a few stops. Your experience will depend on your interests and willingness to stop and get out of the car. We stopped for lunch just after arriving at Mona Cassis and Fills (turn left at the first intersection) which was excellent and you can also sample wines and... More
