Not the best place to go but if you’re looking for a little bit of history it’s perfect. I live nearby but it’s sure worth a visit if your around ponte town.

Pontefract Castle is run by the council and entrance to the castle and grounds is free. There is a cafe and a shop. And, there are regular events at the castle throughout the year.

Great to see this historic castle being restored, I’m not a great history buff but my friend is and the staff were very knowledgeable about this and other historic sites in the area. Also visit Sandal Castle in Wakefield.
