Overview
More
Newport Roman Villa is a fine example of a Romano-British farmhouse built in 280 AD. The Villa has a well preserved bath suite with hypocaust central heating. Illustrative text panels provide a clear explanation of the site and there are artefacts on display which chart the history of the Roman occupation. The villa has a free quiz sheet for younger visitors and there are hands-on activities for all!

Not a huge museum for a modest Roman Villa, albeit one with a full set of baths (Cold, Tepid, Warm and Hot). The remains of the villa are described in illustrations, interpretation boards. Some mosaics and quite a lot of artefacts (some really roman, others...More

Lovely villa with very friendly staff. There's some cool Roman exhibits followed by a brilliant activity room for children (and adults if you're me). You can create mosaics, dress up, build with wooden blocks, recreate a Roman menu using play food or attempt weaving. Inexpensive...More

A fascinating and informative opportunity to see around the remains of a Roman villa. We were amazed at how well it was preserved. The kids loved the activities room! The girl behind the desk was polite, welcoming and very knowledgeable. No parking, so you have...More

A hidden gem. Parking is on a residential road and could be tricky. A delightful and well presented example of a villa. The bath suite is very well preserved. All under cover and dog friendly.

Not worth a going out of your way for but an interesting stop on the way somewhere else. In the middle of a housing estate so not easy to find.

Easily the most informative Roman site we have visited. The nature of this location means that there is no car park, so be prepared to park a little way away. They don't accept credit card, so make sure you have cash with you. A very...More

Entering Newport from Carisbrooke, this site is ill-signposted - though our sat nav found it. However, entering Newport along the main A3020 road there is signposting. There is no dedicated parking, but it was easy to park on the road. The site is roofed, so...More

This is a small, cheap, hidden gem, well worth a visit. You have to park in the road. You can learn all about Roman life, even dress up in Roman clothes. It also has a little shop. Loved it.
