Although very pleasant, the lady told us that there was a tourist train leaving at 4.30 and she pointed out the departure location in the map. There was no sight of the train, nobody in the vicinity had heard of it,and we wasted the afternoon - and paid a taxi to get there. Furthermore, the Tourist Office promoted a tour of the Monastery of Samos at 13 Euros per person. It turned out to be simply a taxi which took us to the Monastery, waited for us to go on a guided tour (paid separately) and then took us back. It could have picked us up at our hotel, instead we were given a pick-up at another hotel elsewhere, whose receptionist had no idea of this tour. The "guided tour" inside the Monastery lasted only 40 minutes and was very superficial. We could have arranged for a taxi ourselves, it would have been cheaper and more convenient. For pilgrims this is not only a waste of time, considering we only spend one afternoon in every place, but we could have had a very needed rest instead. When I asked about bus times next morning to Portomarín, there was no mention of the ongoing strike affecting local bus services. Most infuriating to have such unreliable information being given out to pilgrims.

typical tourist place--friendly staff with limited information. Nice place to just sit down and take a break from hiking the Camino

Sarria no tiene aeropuerto, el más cercano es el de Santiago de Compostela. Desde el aeropuerto hay un bus a Lugo, y desde Lugo se puede tomar otro autobús hasta Sarria. El albergue de peregrinos puede tener sitio o no, depende de la hora a la que se llegue; pero si se inicia el camino desde Sarria, es bueno alojarse en cualquiera de los muchos hoteles, hostales y pensiones de la ciudad, y a partir de ahí, buscar albergues públicos en las distintos finales de etapa. Buen camino
